Photoshopping screenshots should really be considered misleading consumers and should be highly illegal. Having said that we've seen Ryse in motion and unless every frame of that video was individually photoshopped it looks pretty damn good. I'm not personally expecting it to play all that well given what I've seen and the studio's past games but you have to admit it looks pretty damn pretty.
A 10 does not mean perfect just like a final review score is not the average of the sub-scores for graphics, gameplay etc. Think about it, why would a review scale include a number it was literally impossible for any game to ever reach?
I'm not talking about whether or not GTA5 deserves a 10, I don't know yet, not having played it. I'm just saying, if a game scores 10 it means it has achieved the highest level of quality for a videogame at this time. It does not mean...
GTA4 certainly had more than its fair share of problems but Max Payne 3 was an absolutely incredible game that actually got the opposite of GTA4's treatment if you ask me. I think most people discounted it because it wasn't the comicbook noir they wanted from Max Payne. I myself fell for the backlash and didnt pick the game up until I was bored one time and bought a discounted copy as almost an afterthought. When I did I found it to be a ridiculously smooth and beautifully made shoote...
Soft body deformation sounds like a description of me with no shirt on.
When I was a kid I had a game magazine with an article about this game that I would sit and look at longingly. I thought it looked like the coolest thing ever, mostly due to the character designs and overall art style. I never managed to get a copy of it but a few years ago I downloaded an emulator and a rom of this game. Played it for maybe three minutes then skipped to the next rom. I probably should have just stuck with my imagined version of the thing.
I didn't preorder (I know, I know) and am not going to any midnight launches so I am gonna go on a hunt very early on Tuesday morning to see if there's a single copy left in the entire city. If not I will set up the digital version downloading and refuse to sleep until its done, no matter how long it takes. I just hope it's not like Uncharted 3 which was a pain to download even after clearing the ridiculous amount of hd space it was like four separate downloads to get the game to ...
These cynical attempts at throwing others under the bus for 'sexism'/ 'racism' in order to drum up controversy and generate hits are not only stunting the growth of games as an artistic medium but are also helping to discredit racial and gender equality as social movements.
In short I know what this statement will get me and I consider it worth it. Fuck you and every lazy hack journalist like you. Fuck you and fuck the horses you all rode in on. Climb back on tha...
Are we sure this isn't gonna be a subscription thing? I don't see how or why they are going to fund the constant updates and new content they're promising,
Fair point. Of course believing somebody has been steered wrong by their unthinking acceptance of 'common sense' and societal peer pressure is what we all do to some extent. You probably think my feelings on this issue are wrong because I have adopted views and opinions from our culture that I have failed to thoroughly fact check first and I'm sure I think the same about you. That's just what it is to disagree.
I just want to make sure we're not automatic...
See, to me that's more dehumanising than having a character walk around in a skimpy outfit. To imply or even to suggest the possibility that women who claim to be fine with it have just internalised patriarchal values is to suggest that a woman's own opinion of her own personal feeling can be discounted because she doesn't really know what she thinks.
I've seen this same argument used against women who claim to be happy and content working in prostitution, pornog...
I did want this topic to die but this was a good article. Could've done without the conspiracy theory stuff in the last paragraph but most of the points raised here have been my thoughts on the issue that I always felt a little iffy voicing because I'm a man (or at least a 30yr old little boy). I always feel like this stuff is the old Victorian fear of the power of female sexuality resurfacing under the guise of 'protecting women' but to be fair I always had to accept the fact...
I actually think the Xbox one looks like a good console and has some of the best looking launch titles but I have to go with Sony again because they have earned my trust as a company. I am glad Microsoft rethought their business model but it doesn't exactly inspire confidence. If I stay at a small Bed & Breakfast and midway through the night the owner creeps into my room holding a knife, it's not enough that he apologises for disturbing me and leaves my room when I catch him, I...
I always thought this was one of their main problems to be honest. Do you think Martin Scorsese made Raging bull because he polled his audience and the research suggested they wanted a dark gritty boxing drama? To bring it back to games, if Naughty dog allowed fans to tell them what to do next do you think they'd have pulled back the blockbuster action and made a slower, more personal, much better game? My guess is that 'the fans' would have made them make Uncharted 4 right away a...
Please, pleeeeeeease let's not brew up a controversy about this. I can't take any more of the lazy journalists trying to get hits by seeking out controversy and the sheep who fall for it every time. If this becomes the new witch hunt after the MGS one ends I will honestly stop coming here, I just can't take it.
Finding the female body beautiful and incorporating that into fantasy characters /= misogyny. It's ridiculous that these same people would have been fighting the fear of female sexuality when it was coming at us under the guise of religion, now this same old prudish Victorian ownership based fear of female sexuality is back under the guise of socially progressive thinking they can't push it hard enough.
The game itself looks far too much like Dark souls for me, I love the Souls games but I am put off when I see such blatant ripping off, which is what this looks like. There is taking influences and there is looking at a popular thing and saying, 'me too!'. This game seems to be the latter.
Still it looks technically amazing and it's just great to see that the first trailer we saw actually was indicative of the real gameplay and not just a CGI fraud as some suspected ...
It is definitely worth stopping and thinking as a 'gamer' that we're at the start of another console generation. This kind of thing doesn't happen often. We were all very different people last time this happened and we'll all be very different people next time it happens. It's an exciting time to have gaming as a hobby.
I'd be supremely pissed off if they announced it weeks or even two months after I bought it for PS3. I would feel like I was duped into playing the inferior version just so they could make a little more money and I'd start considering Rockstar another of those companies that used to be great but ruined themselves with money grubbing and screwing over the consumer.
If it was announced quite a few months down the line and didn't release until at least a year from to...
Oh be quiet. Kojima's quote is clearly him explaining that he seeks an immediately striking visual design for his characters that will make people want to dress up as them and display images of them in their home. It's the same principle that has guided the design of every popular cult character from The Simpsons to Batman to Darth Vader. People love these characters for more than their looks but people would probably not collect lunch boxes adorned in their images or dress as them at...
Of course the reaction here and elsewhere is depressingly stupid and overdramatic but I did think her complaints sounded a little silly given the context of the game and maybe somebody likely to have politically motivated reasons for complaining about such things might not have been the best choice to review this particular game.
