@PotatoAsylum. My guess is people thought you were stealth trolling about the port. Silly I know but this is pretty much the frontline of the console wars, lots of itchy trigger fingers ready to hit that disagree button at the first sign of the enemy. A little friendly fire is to be expected.
@Eldyraen. I actually agree with you. I can just never pass up the chance to be a smartass.
Re: Nazi Scientists. The problem is that it's not accurate. You're an American and you run around killing Nazi scientists when what you really should have been doing is handing them letters from the US government offering them high paying jobs in America.
If it really is that impossible for Ubisoft to get around the censorship laws without putting themselves out of business I will probably buy the game imported from America.
Maybe it is petty to say ten minutes of censored footage ruins the game for me but it kinda does. It's all about the experience and as good as the rest of the game may be having disclaimers pop up instead of footage every now and then will just leave a bad taste. Just imagine if you were watching Savi...
This may sound naive as I have no idea how these things work technically but couldn't the content be patched in without being on the disc? The same way something like Fallout 3's DLC is downloaded separately but can be visited at any time and any weapons or goodies you find in the DLC area can be used in the main area. I mean couldn't the actual removed content be downloaded within the patch and incorporated into the main game that way?
It's enough to totally turn me off buying this game, which was the only game I've really been excited about in a long time. I can't play some ruined version, not after waiting this long to play the game at all. I don't even want to import it because I do not want Ubisoft to get any of my money. I feel bad denying Matt and Trey a sale because I love their work and respect them greatly but hey, I WANTED to buy it, somebody just decided I wasn't allowed to buy it, not as it w...
Wait.... so, if we buy it......we get it free???
I usually think pirating a game is a very shameful thing but I'm sorry, in this case I absolutely cannot bring myself to give them my money. I wanted to pay for South Park: The Stick of truth. There was nothing I wanted to do more next month. Since it has been decided that I'm not allowed to do that I'm going to try and make sure they lose sales for this. Saving a game from development hell is only a great and noble thing if you actually save the game and not your own butchered v...
So...........so angry..............man, this was easily my most anticipated game but I don't know if I could pay for a butchered copy. I want the experience to be exactly how it was supposed to be. I have to find a real uncut version. Preferably in a way that will not give Ubisoft any of my money. I never pirate but I will actually try to do so this time if only to send a message.
No Downton Abbey?
I hate politically correct pandering and I am sure Deep down will be fun but come on, let's not pretend there's gonna be any singular artistic vision behind it at all. Artistic vision is just about extinct in modern mainstream gaming. Of course there are a few obvious exceptions to the rule (woof woof) but just about everything in modern gaming is now conceived and developed from the get go by focus groups and market research. I don't think one more concession to the unwashed mass...
I honestly don't think there are enough thirf person games around at the moment, if any.
...sorry, couldn't help it.
I can't imagine how boring life would be if you only approved of things that were normal.
It shouldn't continue but it will. We should be getting new and interesting experiences but we won't. It's now all about improving the graphics of an already established formula, smoothing off any rough 'non commercially viable' edges and kicking it out the door. Sure we'll still get a bunch of imaginative 'art experiences' from small indie teams but as far as mainstream games driven by passion and heart it's over, Johnny.
I just tried your little experiment and nobody seemed to know it, they just looked really angry and kicked me out. Oh and don't come back with excuses like 'you should have put some clothes on first' or 'a funeral services office isn't technically a store' because we all know I just proved you wrong.
Fixed youth?
Ugh, sorry.
I would definitely say the exact opposite. Playing through it as an interactive story was amazing but the combat sections really felt a little forced and were not very fun (not even forced from a writing perspective, they were well written into the story, just that they felt more like a roadblock to get through before things started moving again. Maybe it's better to say they felt 'enforced')
It looks beautifully made but I'm more than a little worried. A lot of the commentary on the gameplay I watched repeatedly seemed to revolve around fighting and about military tactical decisions being the most important. In fact a phrase they keep coming back to is 'actions speak louder than words'. That along with your character being fully voiced and walking around in his official uniform which features a huge face covering helmet, I'm strongly suspecting they're turning...
I was really let down when I saw the DLC would be a prequel focusing on Ellie because I felt we had already seen her entire character arc or at least every important part. I also thought it would lessen the impact of the main game's story by telling us Ellie had already been on a crazy violent adventure before even meeting Joel. Honestly though after playing it it only adds to the main story, the way they managed to work it without ruining the idea behind the main game is great.
I remember I gave up on Dark souls for quite a while at the point where you have to fight those two knights. The fat one and the thin one. I was just certain I could not ever do that until I gave it a shot months later and did it. I then walked around for maybe two weeks with a smug glow. I then gave up again at the point where you fight the big monster made entirely of skeletons... and I still haven't had the guts to go back and try again.
I don't think I've mentioned resolution here once because it's being thrown around so aggressively it's hard to just mention it without looking like you're being a fanboy. Since some news seems to be coming out about XboxOne achieving 1080p on more games than it previously has I feel I can safely say that honestly, the resolution bump has been my favourite thing about this console gen so far.
At least I think it's the resolution. I am terrible at under...
