When you send data, it is sent searching for a specific MAC address. announcing it this year doesn't mean they're releasing it this year. Ps3 hasn't exactly been a success story. Microsoft released first, so they sold more. If Sony does the same for Ps4, they will have the bigger market share and will retain the bigger market share.

They've announced a new console every 5 years, and since the announcement of Ps3 was at E3.. 2005, this would be right around the time to show it. Getting the big ones for ps3 out of the way now would make sense.
I kind of agree with this strategy. I've taken the developers side for quite some time now when it comes to the battle against used game sales. I mean, they work years to develop a game for your enjoyment, and then used game sales are destroying their incomes. I don't think that's fair in any way, and for that I support this idea of having people who play second-hand games pay for online. It's only 10 bucks, it supports the developer, which means it supports us.

You're missing the point, Sony can put anything in these Terms and Conditions, these are part of the contract you get the moment you purchase the product, and as long as they get you to accept them, they are legally allowed to do EVERYTHING in those terms and conditions, because you AGREED to them. If you didn't agree with the term that features may be removed at will, then you shouldn't have agreed with the terms and conditions in the first place when you created a PSN account.
