While Omikron was jank and all over the place, it also had heart and it felt like something made with love. Omikron's potential was through the roof and I loved the hell out of it when it came out on the Dreamcast and it's one of my favorite games of that generation. Too bad there was never a sequel while David Bowie was alive.
Sadly, Quantum Dream is stuck making pretty mediocre games nowadays. Games that, as you say, feel dated as if they were done before proper 3...
I'm still waiting for a proper Final Fantasy game that looks exactly like Yoshitaka Amano's art. Dissidia proved how ridiculously amazing that would look like but it was still not close enough. They need to go for broke on Amano's art style and design.
