They wanted to catch those 8 million people that buy Madden every year so a price cut right before Madden releases was a strategic decision. It is always about having the software to move console.

If they go exclusive they will struggle to recoop their development costs. It is easy to sell a million copies with 120 million install base try doing the same with less than 5 million. I just buy videogames I don't make them or run a company that does, so whatever taketwo allows rockstar to do it their business.

MS had to bring out the 360 or get out of the Console selling business. The original Xbox cost them too much money to sell, they never made a profit on hardware sales. They had to cut their losses and produce a system where they owned the design and parts. Just like in this article Sony has to do what is best for the corporation and walk a tightrope to success. Running a business is not easy.

that was going to happen anyway. WOW! And to those that like UT3 no offense, but Halo3 is the 800 lb gorilla this holiday season. It really doesn't make sense to bring a shooter to the 360 this fall. Except for Call opf Duty 4 because the multiplayer on 2 was so hot that 4 should steal some of that Halo luster come November( 2 months later). Any other shooter will be ground up against those two games.

If you notice the sales of the 360 at the current price point is stagnant. They have almost exhausted the consumers that will buy the 360 at the current price the sales are steady but the show no growth a price cut in addition to the new IP will stimulate new growth.

It is all about casual games. So less money will be spent developing the Maddens, Forzas and God of Wars. That isn't right we have been supporting this industry for decades. Now fanboyism aside MS, Sony still see us wtf is nintendo doing for us?

I believe MS will drop prices across the board $100 so there will be a $200 core unit to compete with Nintendo. They keep saying the magic point for console adoption by the masses is $199. So let's wait till the holidays to declare a winner.

Blu-Ray is Sony's bread and butter why would they engaged in downloadable content directly competing against the adoption of blu ray? They should stick to their vision.

They build special demos for E3 separate from the game build

that MS is also investing a part of that Billion dollars is upgrading 360's so that the RRoD don't happen in the future. It isn't just about repairing machines, it is about making them work right out of the box. Maybe that's why the sales numbers have skyrocketed.

All that means is they won't sell as many copies of their game. The game is not a system seller so they will only be hurting themselves. Simple math xbox 360 11million customers ps3 3.6 million customers. Who can they sell more too? So like I said who cares?

It took them this long to identify that it was a manufacturing problem. Now that they know what is causing the problem They will fix it for free. All other problems are not caused by this manufacturing fault. They are just problems with individual machines. They are not part of the system wide issue so they are not covered unless you have a warrenmty.

How someone can declare themselves an expert on something without proof. If he has played so many xbox games, he should name at least a few. And everyone who played the original xbox knows that it doesn't begin and end with Halo. The first machine was a fine sturdy machine. The second has heat related problems, but damn the game experience so far is stellar. And in comparing it to the PS3 or Wii, who the hell is he to tell someone else what to buy? The internet gives everyone the ability to s...

Coolmatrix are you trying to drive Sony out of business. The loss the company would take on a $299 PS3 would bankrupt them. They would be losing more on each console sold than it would sell for. ie sell for $299 lose $400.
