Take a lesson MS...you don't need to include the camera in every console and turn off those that don't want it. Demand will be there for those that want it and will buy it seperately.

"when it works" one key argument against Kinect.
With MS pushing Kinect so much and forcing every console to come with one they should at least justify it. Kinect Sports Rivals, or some other "killer" hyped game, should have been ready at launch and bundled with every console to promote and support the Kinect. It would have been a better deal and would have shown some use for Kinect.
"Now every Xbox One player can unplug their Kinect and have the console work just the way it should without this feature. The Kinect still can listen and watch when it is plugged in but that is your decision based on your own gaming needs."
My gaming needs don't include Kinect at all so why does MS require I buy one with the console?
No, more reasonable price would be $349. No reason for it to be same price as PS4 with its cheaper GPU and RAM
Why would it be a shame to offer people that don't want Kinect, and wouldn't use it, the option to buy the console at a cheaper price? Talk about "developers won't use it if they can't count on it being there" is nonsense. What matters is how many use Kinect (and are willing to spend money on it), not how many have it. Jacking up the cost of the console to ensure everyone has the accessory, and thats all Kinect is, even if they have no plan on using it is just bad...
the functionality would still be there, just not everyone could use it. But so what, many wouldn't use those features anyway, or buy Kinect games, even with Kinect included...so why make them pay for it?
The community is already fragmented between those that simply won't buy the console at the higher price to have the Kinect included. Many Xbox fans that don't want Kinect, and certainly won't pay an extra $100-$150 for it, are left out.
Hopefully it will implement some sort of skill based ranking system along the lines of Halo 3
$350 without Kinect would be reasonable.
To much if your not willing to spend the extra $100-$150 for Kinect. If you wouldn't buy it seperate, than you probobly wouldn't buy it included.
sure, if they get the price down to a reasonable level, say $350, and do it before Sony gets to big a lead and its to late.
All this talk of MS ditching Xbox certainly can't be helping sales of the Xbone. Why buy a console that potentially could be unsupported, or undersupported, in a few years.
I wouldn't think it would too hard for backwards compatibility with at least the original Xbox. They both after all are x86 based machines.
The logic in this article is absurd. It assumes everyone that buys a console wants a camera as well, so the Xbone is a beter choice because you're gauranteed the camera.
The only thing the Xbone needs is a lower price point. Kinda hard to sell the Xbone when right next to it sits the PS4 that does the same thing for $100 less. Unless you care that much for Kinect, most will opt for the cheaper console.
Some sort of backwards compatibility perhaps? Or maybe Usher...
It's the society we live in now becuase to many people want to brush it under the rug and say things like "So what, I have nothing to hide" Same people then want to ridicule those that are concerned try to address it by bringing up nonsense about in foil hats. Simply to many sheep willing to be led and lied to.
Still $100 to much. With cheaper RAM and GPU should be able to undercut price of PS4. If MS is so determined to make sure everyone has a Kinect than they can throw it in for free. Many not willing to spend extra money for a needless accessory they don't want.
