oblivion is worth the wait
the official xbox developer kits (XDK) are special units with a 80GB HDD so this screenshot prooves nothing. And since the XDK's are the only ones that can run unsigned code it makes sense to use them on displays that in fact runs unsigned code (for demos etc)
Had the chance to play a tech demo at this years Games Convention in Leipzig ( and watch some people dressed as elves with paper swords ).
The Demo started with you beeing the king of the elves who gets a tutorial in combat. Its more of a refreshing course for the king but a real tutorial for you. After practicing some moves with your mentor you will start the real game. In a cutscene you find your old mentor dead on the grounds and then you start fighting your way through this...
maybe we will be able to download movies that way? Like an online video rental store or something
i second that :D
yes this location tells the remaining FREE memory. not the total memory. So it is definetely a HDD larger than 60GB. Still believe that it is a 80GB XDK one tho
Its unlikely that this shows a 60GB HDD. First of all it makes more sense that it shows FREE memory at that location. But when plugging a HDD into a 360 it will grab 2GB for caching and additional 4GB for Xbox Backward compability. So even if there was a 60GB plugged in it would read 54GB free.
The official XDK's are 360's with a 80GB hard drive so i think that this is what you guys are seeing. 80GB -2GB of cache -4GB of Xbox Emulation - 14GB of some other stuff ... game code, ...
lets hope ;)

Both are good API's
I prefer DX over OGL simply because its more feature complete and easier to program for while not really slower. If i would want to make the engine cross platform i would need to abstract.
One of the core benefits of DX10 is that you get a guaranteed feature set now. No need to ask the graphics card if a specific feature is present.
And since both XBox 360 and PS3 are guaranteed to have a fixed feature set both implementations w...
The golden rule of graphics programming is: "If it looks right it is right"
As long as you can feel immersed its ok. Seeing this video i think that the huge skyline is the biggest immersive factor. In the same way HL2 was immersive.
The only thing i really felt out of place in that video was how clean it all looked. I prefer a little more dirt and moss on the walls
As for the enemies behavior: The dont look pretty smart but IMHO they dont...
Played it at this years GC and it is fun. Will probably buy them both. GoW for me and Viva Pinata as a present for my ex-girlfriend. She saw some gameplay video and was clapping her hands on the table imitating the sound of the shovel ;)
I had the chance to play it at this years GC in Leipzig and even tho it had some serious bugs in it ( script stoppers, crashes, slowdowns ) i really enjoyed it. And yes the game looks really gorgeous. It's definetely on my "To-Buy" list this winter along with GoW and Lost Planet.
if the game doesnt support 1080p it will be upscaled by the console which looks slightly worse than a true 1080p signal.
on both consoles the game needs to be specifically built for 1080p in order to not use any scaling techniques.
it will be the same on both consoles
its still a pure 720p frame when displayed. The tiles are assembled together again BEFORE sent to the TV set. with 720i there would at every time only half of the picture sent to the TV set.
actually it was a non-truth ;)
the 360 framebuffer works different than that.
actually phils math was already off when he said that a 1080p frame is 8mb in video memory.
the math goes something like this:
Back Buffer:
Pixels * FSAA Depth * ( Pixel Colour Depth + Z Depth )
Front Buffer:
Pixels * (Pixel Colour Depth + Z Buffer Depth)
Total = Front Buffer + BackBuffer

yep i can understand your point as a former soldier myself (reservist now).
i think there are always lots of viewpoints to a specific topic and i always try to see all of them. I must confess that i normally fail doing so.

yep all speeches were in english and i only attended one session were the speaker was hardly able to express himself properly. I almost fell asleep during that lesson. But nevertheless he did a great job at trying :)
there is one region lock for whole europe. so there are no problems at all
werent square enix the ones saying that FFXII will be 2 DVD's (2x 9GB?) once it is out? Can't remember as it was some time ago. Looking up the amount i would have to download i see about 2.5GB packed so i think a single 4.3GB DVD-R would suffice.
As for Team Ninja ... looking up the amount i need to download DOA4 i would fill a single 4.3 DVD-R as well.
Oblivion is another example. I clearly remember the developers claim that the game takes a whole DVD with the v...
