to a mega corporation like MS who closed the market on one of their all time highs last night, the 5% is "whatever" to them at this moment in time...

microsoft wasn't shocked that this was going to happen nor caught off guard by it.
they made it clear during that last financial call that they knew this was going to happen as 360 dies off.
also, I factored in things that could (possibly) have a positive impact on the Xbox division as well as have a (possible) negative impact on Xbox.
5% is nothing to scoff at when your talking millions to billions of doll...
i can already tell people don't know how financial report/earnings call work and how 'adjustments' work.
xbox/gaming lost 5% (which is NOTHING at Microsoft) due to the xbox 360 (and 360 games for the most part) sales being adjusted for.
Active Xbox Live users up 21% this year over last year...
Giving away game(s) w/console can have impact on potential sales..

it's now fall/christmas time (in the USofA at least)... xbox's most direct competitor has a vr unit that just released and a 4Pro around the corner...

when your most direct competitor has 2 new hardware sku's hitting the market (during fall/christmas shopping at time at that), that's when you WANT to go on an advertising campaign... you increase your advertising budget between now and Christmas (Billboard, Radio, TV, etc) to keep consumer inter...
