XBL was not entirely down, certain regions/areas had online play, it was for two weeks, and all were compensated well. Also, there was no data loss or system compromises. If you are going to compare things, get the facts right.
Also, MS did apolgize for the RROD, they spent 1 billion dollars to ensure every last one was fixed on THIER dime, so what else can you do. Heaven forbid they didnt bow for 7 seconds at a press conference.

You act like UC3 has it on lock. Gears 3 looks phenominal, as does battlefield and elder scrolls skyrim.
Also, I think Bioware might be more concerend with polishing the game and making it the ultimate ME experience vice winning some random net GOTY award.
I was one of the disagrees. I am not a fanboy. I am a person who realizes MS, Nintendo, and Sony are all companies who work for profit, not for love from internet enthusiasts.
I doubt any of the Sony personnel feel legitimate sorrow for people not being able to play online for a week or two.
This is an attempt to win PR points and get the reputation stains off. And any company in this position (MS and Nin included) would act similarly.

And NO, it isn't because of the fact this is a Sony issue. I have no doubt if the Wii or the 360 had gone through this "crisis" (which it really wasn't, a tsunami or an earthquake is a crisis, not playing online for less than two weeks isn't) they would do similar PR stunts.

The PSN system down so its doomed articles were hilarious.
The wii was doomed when it was a gimmick. Went on to dominate first place.
The 360 was doomed when the RROD emerged. It went on to nab second place and stay competetive with sony.
The PS3 was doomed when it failed to snag first place in a year...it went on to rebound nicely, just about to nab second place.

I actually liked the sawed off. It prevents rushers from trying to sneak in a cheap saw kill and it is balance with a low ammo count and a hideously long reload time, even with a perfect reload.
Just one guy's opinion but this article (and the comments posted thus far) are on the pathetic side.
Real gamers don't focus on gender. They don't label people as a girl gamer or a male gamer. You are simply a gamer. That's it.

Not for any negative reasons but think of it this way. The ps3 has a lot more exclusive titles, plus all of the multiplats that come out regularly. That = much more competetion and possibly equal or lesser sales.
This finally broke the million mark and imo deserved it. It was a good game, but definitely had its flaws.
I agree, although Nintendo did come back from a distant third to dominant #1 spot this generation of hardware, so nothing is forever indeed.
Two things amaze me about articles involving the PS outage.
1 - How many N4G users keep saying live was down for a week, two weeks, a month, etc. It was down for ONE DAY in 2007 that was not scheduled maintenance (which has never taken longer than 24 hours). All gold members got a free game and a free month of gold.
2 - How many people think they are entitled to compensation for something they don't pay for. Kudos to those on here who realize sony do...
NIS, you're the main thing I miss about the playstation brand (I play on the Xbox 360). Please port your titles at some point !
I don't think its a question that any core gamer would want to be in the gaming industry as a journalist, developer, or any other job.
I believe its a matter of the quality behind thier "product" that people tend to love to critque. Plus, having names like hiphopgamer and the gaming goddess doesn't do much to inspire faith and trust in thier abilities.
Now obviously they are popular enough to do what they are doing...but jersey shore is ...
I def agree with MGS1 aka MGS before it went from kickass to batshit crazy. Also, Halo CE changed the shooter genre forever and ushered in competetive play.
I played it back when I owned a PS3 and I didn't take to it personally. It was mediocre at best. Although I like the attempt at celtic lore. There are much better titles on the PS3 to play. If anything, most of NIS's titles are the true lesser known gems of the PS3

As always, a wonderfully entertaining review. It's good to see a "reviewer" (I'd describe him as more of a comedian, since you don't really get a good feel for a game based off of what he discusses in his videos) who can poke at every platform, company, genre, etc.
I look forward to the next and every other review as always.
If this does get RPG of the year, I think it is only because ME3 got delayed.
As for GOTY, I think it will come down to UC3 vs GoW3. Both are adored critically, have large fanbases, sell out the ass, and are bringing the awesome sauce to the table.
UC3 will be adding in some kind of new co-op mode and is bringing some great social features to the title. GoW3 is bring a truckload of co-op play in addition to a much improved mp experience.
