Your reaching lol. 5 years has alwayd been the average for EVERY company. Gen 8 was an enigma with the 360 and X1. WiiU did not have a short life, its competitors had an unusually long life.
DOOM, NBA2K, and Wolfenstein 2 say hi XStation4pio_Pro.
The only joke here is your poor excuse for downplay.
PS4 did a full 2 years into its life. And even then, people kept saying, "PS4 had no games worth getting other than Bloodborne" or it is a "PS3.5" until about the time Uncharted 4 came out. Everything else was said to be niche or otherwise irrelevant because most games were still cross release with PS360.
How quickly people forget it seems. And the funny thing is the first year of Switch gives gamers far more reason to buy it than the PS4 did during i...
Add DOOM to that list. The game is only a year old and very current gen. Now we have it on the go with the Switch.
@PheonixUp
They can fit on a cartrige, NBA2k (which is the obly game like this at this time) could have gone with the 32 gig cart instead of the 16 and there would be no install.
The problem is people like you are trying to make the situation for one game seem like a standard, it isn't.
As far as we know, the physical version of the game still requires no install, something the PS4 and X1 would know nothing about.
Everyone has known for a while now that digital would need an SD card. However with over 90 percent of the Switch library (that has a physical release) does not require any install. Obviously NBA2k is the only unfortunate exception at this time.
At least it is not like the Vita, where you had to use Sony's overpriced brand. Sure they are overpriced, but I will just go with Sandisk. Noy work it just to have a logo on the card.
A reviewer does not need to be good at games, but they do need to be competent at them. Example, if they can't get the controls down there must be a problem with the controls right? If that is the case they will likely dock points.
However if the person playing can't play well to begin with, what right do they have to say the controls are the problem?
It is not black and white.
The thing is Nintendo can keep their older IPs alive while also giving us new ones. Furthermore if you want to talk sales numbers alone, Zelda outsolde Horizon and is continuing to do so. That is 60 mil potential buyers for Horizon versus less than 20 mil (WiiU plus NS numbers so far).
By your own logic, Horizon should have sold way more than Zelda because they are both equally great games. That however is not the case.
As for new IPs, ARMs, Splatoon, ...
Nintendo has more first party exclusives than Sony, meaning they invest more in first party games and studios. Furthermore they have been advertising the hell out of the Switch, so please tell me where the lack of spending comes into play? Do you even know how the stock market works?
Both companies are doing great and that is fantastic. Your comment just screams butthurt though.
This list is respectable. It was nice to see that you added all of the non canon games to the list as well (though you forgot Zelda's Adventure, the 3rd CDI game).
I may not have exactly the same opinion as you in their ranking, but you did a solid job non the less.
My top Five...
BotW
Majora's Mask
Skyward Sword
Twilight Princess
Ocarina of Time (holds a special place in my childhood though)...
In other news...water is wet.
3DS was plenty successful, smartphones did not kill handheld gaming. Dented it sure, but many people still and always will want something more than mobile can offer on the go.
So yes, there is certainly room for a handheld market when executed properly.
The Vita is better than people think, nothing that it should have been, and a failure overall. I enjoyed my Vita, but saying it is the go to for handheld gamers is nothing short of a joke.
My prediction is that the single player aspect of it will be complete on the cart, but if some of the game needs to be digital then it would be the online multiplayer aspect.
If this is the case then it really is not a big deal seeing as how the online multiplayer is only usable with an internet connection and with the servers in tact. This way, the consumer would still have the value of a physical copy years down the road or on the go without a connection.

I came literally just to say this...
You can get it digital on so many platforms for cheap...why wait for something that may not come when you can just experience it now for a certainty?
@Kun_ADR
Ah yes, Infamous SS. I forgot about that one, which is surprising because I really enjoyed it. I believe I even got the plat.
However, having a portable version of BotW on top of true exclusives such as Mario O, Mario Rabbids, ARMs, Splatoon 2, Fire Emblem Warriors, and Xenoblade 2 all within 9 months of the console's release already give consumers much more of a reason to buy it year 1 in my opinion than the other two did.
I have 7 retail games. Saying the Switch has no games is worse than saying the PS4 had none in its launch year. At least Switch has some real exclusives where as the PS4 only had Knack and Killzone. Everything else the PS4 had was either on the competition as well, and 90 percent of that were also available on the previous gen.
Your drunk, go home.
