Yep. He knows now never to review a game like Halo with less than 10/10. Because that's good journalism somehow.

I agree with the author (well, except for the "terrible" hyperbole), it was boring and lackluster compared to Arkham Asylum. I really thought when I bought it that it'd be just as amazing and intense. It was still an okay game, don't get me wrong, but in comparison, it wasn't very good. It was... disappointing.

But why is this article coming out now?

@Vortis: The way that women are objectified in current society is sexist.

I refuse to believe that humanity is and will always be sexist.

We have managed to get ourselves over a lot. There's still homophobia and racism out there, but nowhere near as bad as it once was-- so humans can get over things. Sexism isn't anywhere near as bad as it once was either, for that matter. We can improve, but we can't do it by denying that there's any differe...

Abs? That's what we're calling breasts now? *squint*

I didn't say either was any more realistic, but one is (usually) an unrealistic power fantasy, and the other is (usually) an unrealistic sexual fantasy.

I read a great example not long ago-- look at the difference between rule 34 fanart for male and female characters. The female ones could almost be right out of game art (with more clothes, because almost no one puts out AO games). The male ones...

Really really? You think that a power fantasy is the same as a sexual objectification? lol. This topic has been done to death and the article is stupid. Why bring this up in the first place?

Games are inanimate objects. This is a dumb question to ask and answer, IMO. I don't think anyone would ever claim that games hate women, or computers hate women, or math hates women.

@Vortis: If it's not complete as-is, don't buy DLC to fix it, whether it's on-disc or not. Boycott it. I stand by my statement-- it doesn't matter when the DLC is made, because it's the state of the game when you buy it that's important. If it's not finished, it's a crap game and no paid-for DLC will ever fix that. Capcom isn't the only company that makes DLC, nor is it the only company to ship some of the DLC on disc.

I would agree with almost all DLC... but there have been a few that were worth it, I think. Shivering Isles for Oblivion was pretty good.

"or developed pre release"

So, development should stop cold-turkey the day you get to alpha, and nothing new should be developed until the game is completely finished, even if a company has the resources to create the DLC while they're testing and fixing the game they're going to sell?

Where does that line go, anyways? Do developers have to patch in support for DLC to work at all, since developing a way to make DLC work pre-release would tec...

That sounds like you just don't like the idea of DLC at all...? The game is done, and some of the DLC is partially done.

4842d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Oh, I'm not really trying to defend Capcom. I don't much like on-disc DLC myself. I just don't really see a great alternative in some cases.

4844d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

I have a question for people who are against DLC on disc, but not against DLC in general.

Let's say that for some game, some people are working on DLC during beta testing. The DLC isn't tested or ready, but some of the files are by the time the game can go for final certification testing (especially some of the larger content files). The content itself won't be fully tested until, let's say, a month after the game is out.

Would you prefer to h...

Well... I agree that showing rape to his daughter is probably not what any father would want to do.

Though, to be honest, being strong doesn't mean you won't get raped. Women just have to live with the fact that 1 in 4 of us will be sexually assaulted at some point in our lives, and that's in nice countries like the US and Canada. It definitely doesn't make her weak to have survived a rape attempt.

As for her breasts, no, it shouldn't mean...

Whoa! Fem!Shep wouldn't "stay home and bake pies" or be a "soccer mom" type of person. Nor is Faith, or Samus Aran. The point of them is that they're characters who happen to be women, and "being sexy" isn't any more on their minds than it is on a typical man-character's mind.

@N4realGMRZ : I do understand that it's offensive to you. And I think it's a good thing that they took the map down so that they can fix things, since it's always better to apologize and correct a mistake when it's made. Where I disagree with you is that you're saying you think it was an intentional insult. That's just ridiculous.

Never ascribe to malice what can be explained by stupidity or ignorance.

Are you for real? No one there was thinking "Ha! Those crazy Muslims, we'll really get them with this obscure painting on the wall!"

Many Christian bathrooms I've seen have religious iconography in some form in them-- picture of Jesus, quote from scripture, painting of a Saint... It's not part of the culture over here to think that these things shouldn't be in a bathroom. And let's face it, most people are not culturally aware enough to make such...

Do you know, a lot of people complained about the ending for A.I., but I haven't seen Spielberg stop making movies yet. What gives?

Listen, I know it sucks when a something you make isn't well-recieved, but if your skin is so thin that you can't handle criticism without quitting, you probably shouldn't be in a creative workforce. Go do accounting or garbage collection or something.

@Bimkoblerutso : Even strippers tend to have no-touch policies. People can consent to one thing and not to another. (Of course, if she said yes beforehand, as she apparently did, then I agree that it's totally okay.)
