"Windows barely needs 1.5gigs of RAM, Windows 8 even less so."
Barely? Barely?
Holy shit, I feel old when people say that. Remember when desktops measured RAM in KB and we felt lucky to have that much?
By that logic, Sony should have done much better-- look at how many PS2s they sold, they must have known what they were doing with that crazy price tag. Except they didn't.
Each console cycle is a new beginning. Past performance does not predict future results.
(That said, I'll take the rumours with my day's serving of salt and say that the next Xbox might still be focused on gamers.)
Edit: Really, people? Disagrees? Do you reall...
Re: everyone thinks rape is reprehensible... Yeah, I dunno. People say they're against rape, until it happens. Then it's the victim's fault for being in a situation where they could be raped.
Raped in India? Well, why were you there, you know it's dangerous, you shouldn't have been outdoors at night. Raped by football players? Well, why'd you get so drunk and ruin their lives (seriously, CNN kind of said this)? Raped by your husband? Well, if you didn&...
I'm actually not too worried about that. I'd prefer to watch on my own screen than go out to a movie. Theaters usually suck, IMO-- there's all sorts of people you don't necessarily want to watch with, you can't pause the movie while you take a bathroom break, it's usually too cold, you're paying crazy money for sodas or popcorn or whatever, and listening to other people munch away whether or not you buy some... yeah. I'd rather watch new movies at home if I cou...
Okay, what if... this is so that MS can stream you movies in the theatres? Ie, you can now watch a theatre movie in your home, so they'll charge you the kind of rates you would get in a theatre (well, hopefully a little lower, given that you probably don't have the sound system etc), which include per viewer pricing?
Okay, but you're not going to get 100 hours of story. No one can write something like that cohesively. Best you'll get are WRPGs, where they make 100 hours of content by adding missions that don't affect the main storyline.
If you don't want Dead Space, fine, don't buy it, I didn't mean to say you had an obligation to buy it (Edit: or any other game, for that matter). But if the content everyone wants is multi-player, because 5-8 hours of focused, stor...
I dunno about that. People for years have been complaining about single player games that don't have online. "If it doesn't have online, I'm not buying it! I'll rent it!" (Which deprives the creators of the sale-- it's certainly legal, but when more and more people do this, it means that people are rewarding games with ridiculous multiplayer, even if it's shoehorned in at the expense of single player.) I've hated this attitude for a long while, because I&...
@Athonline : Sony did in fact have an OpenGL implementation for PS3 (I believe they supported all of OpenGL ES). It just wasn't all that useful for most studios, AFAIK.
Supercomputer is a moving target. Your dumb phone is probably an advanced supercomputer compared to the first supercomputer in the 1960s.
"When M$ announced Kinect at E3, Sony, who presented the next day, had to scramble to come up with their own version of motion sensing peripheral. And that's how we arrived at the Wii-mote HD."
Lol. Coming up with the Move overnight, along with that demo, would have been magic. Despite the claims of some fanboys, Sony is not made of magic.
No, no. You can remember up to 1986, and then after 1997. It's only 11ish years missing time.
Not... quite. Bandai made the Pippin hardware, Apple was trying to make money by licensing out the system. (They licensed it out to someone else, too.) It's just never been a good business model for Apple to license their software or hardware to third parties.
Heh, Sony isn't Apple. Not sure they could pull "one more thing" off :)
I don't think Sony can afford to give the next Xbox another year lead. I think they'll push something out if MS does.
It said she bought it from Walmart. Where are you getting under the table trades from?
Everyone's expecting a console release this year from MS and Sony. I think the two reasons are probably more on the lines of Orbis and Durango.
Are people really saying that they couldn't tell the difference between ps2 games an ps3/360 games at launch? Launch titles are never the peak of the system, but they should still be more impressive than last gen titles, IMO.
Baka-akaB : Are you really saying everyone should have consoles on a battery back-up system as standard practice? Seriously?
If everyone were smart enough to realize it's a scam, they wouldn't bother posting it... first comment was obv not falling for it though.
Steam is NOT always online. Perhaps some features require online, but if my internet connection goes down, I am still able to play my Steam games. Anyways, to the main points.
I buy Blizzard products in spite of the always-on DRM. I don't like it, and it has stopped me from playing sometimes because I'm anti-social and don't want my status broadcast to my friends when I'm not in the mood to talk, but... oh well. I will deal with it, because I really, really wa...
