Buying PS3 for FF13 - OK, so you guys all went and bought a PS3 3 years ago for FF13 - What the hell have you been doing since? Just letting it collect dust? I'll give you that Final Fantasy is more closely associated to Sony than MS, but the rest of that stuff is pretty absurd or negligible. Do you really think people were buying PS3s 3 years ago for FF13? That idea is ridiculous.
360 has double the install base in the US and to assume that FF13 will do better and help the PS3 is ridiculous.
Of course there were massive drops, you can't expect the PS3 to keep selling 150K weekly. The big thing to notice is that, as you pointed out, the PS3 is settling at 30K, which is 3X the amount it sold weekly for the rest of the year.
The end of the year will be very interesting. Both the Wii and the PS3 have serious potential to come out as the best selling home console in Japan this year. Right now, it's like a 60K difference. Both consoles have massive line ups in December...
The average consumer can't tell the difference, and if lets them ratchet up the graphics(pun intended), then I think it's for the better.
I imagine the other one is a new Buzz! game. Am interested in seeing what the new IP is. Blue Toad Murder Files definitely piqued my interest.

When the game hits the US, I'm pretty much getting this because I want the EyeToy for the motion controllers, and I know my GF will love the game.
Japan is a strange creature. The average living space there is tiny because the cities are so overpopulated that people don't spend a lot of time in there own houses. Combine that with the popularity of public transport, and you get a nation full of DS owners.
Great game, hopefully NG3 continues with the Sigma engine.
I think it's hard to say portable gaming is dying when the DS consistently tops worldwide hardware charts, though I do agree that portables used exclusively for gaming may be on the way out.
Fallout was sick and the DLC not actually being 360 exclusive just makes it sweeter.
News flash - there's 18 million 360s and 9 millions PS3s in the US. Sounds kinda like 2:1, doesn't it?
