Stick your head in the sand all you want, but without next gen hardware sporting next gen specs...there would be no next gen consoles or no next gen games...and there would be no evolution between the two.

No matter how you wanna cut it, software on the Wii U will always be inferior to it's competitors.
The PS2 sold as well as it did, was mainly because it was the cheapest DVD player being sold on the market, at the time. (Again, hardware issue)
Another reason it sold so well, was because it launched before its competition and already had a pre existing library of games accumulated.

You ever see PC elitists saying "hardware doesnt matter"? No, you dont. And you never will. PC gamers will go out and invest thousands of dollars for the BEST hardware, just so they can play the best games with the best optimization quality.
Same concept applies to consoles. Hardware elitists care about how much RAM it will have, care about GPU and CPU and clock speeds.

I am indeed buying the PS4 for the hardware, because I am one to go with the best tech on the market. Why buy a pinto when I can buy a Bugatti, lol. The games I want, wont come out until AFTER launch date. Second Son, FFXIV, Elder Scrolls Online, Thief, Diablo 3, and The Witcher 3. These are not launch games.
So untill they come out, Im buying my PS4...for the sake of the hardware. I might get Killzone tho.

There are a handful of decent indie games out there. Some I have played. But noone is gonna buy a next gen console exclusively for indie games. They buy them for AAA games from AAA developers. That being said, it's always a good thing to have indie support in your back pocket. You dont want to alienate them from your console. Thats a bad business decision.
Developers are developing games for next gen consoles, with next gen specs. Thats where their focus is, right now. As it should be.
As a general rule, you dont enter a new gen of consoles with a current gen console...and thats basically what Nintendo is trying to do with the Wii U. People may label it as a next gen console, but the specs say otherwise. Especially when compared to the PS4 and XB1.
This makes multiplats a frustrating and nerve wracking endeavor...

Good. They need a new IP. An MMO or something different from the same old crap, would be nice.
Would like to see them step away from the RE franchise for a few years. Then in maybe 5 years, hire a new team to reinvent and reboot RE and God willing...reinvent the survival horror genre.

Personally, I prefer the raw power of a console over a handheld. Current handhelds can do a lot, these days...and are leaps and bounds ahead of their predecessor's. Even very nearly on the same grounds as some current gen consoles. But the 3DS and Vita pale in comparison to next gen consoles.
Im a console gamer, first and foremost. I dont travel, so Im never on the road...and I dont need a "toilet companion" to keep ...
I couldnt agree more...but Sony is not without its faults either. They need to get the Vita back on track, sooner rather than later. Will the PS4 save it? Will remote play restore it from it's fall from grace? Will it ever get BETTER games?
These issues needs to be addressed.
That being said. Sony IS indeed playing the better game, here.
