I mean, Bayonetta 3 is coming out this year and they have Doom on the console....

@mkis

Not sure what you mean by retrospective. User reviews on metacritic have actually gone up (indicating better retroactive perspectives) and journalists still state that BotW is one of, if not the best, legend of Zelda game

Like last year, I anticipate that the Switch will take over again during the holidays. But it's good to see that PS5s supplies are beginning to get better. Supplies were rough this year.

@pocahontas and redemption

33M was for the Spiderman series (the first, remaster, and miles morales) across PS4 and PS5. It wasn't for an individual game.

It was announced that the first sold over 20M though, so the guy above looks foolish anyway.

PC isn't a games console.

Sony said they are no longer going to report PS4 numbers, which means however many they have made or are going to make is not very significant. The PS4 number won't change drastically at all, and is not going to change places

@Aloymetal

The PS5 is no longer Sony's fastest selling console and hasn't been for quite some time. The PS5 is currently approximately 4M units behind the PS4 in the same timeframe.

When you state that a console is the fastest selling console you need to provide the context by which they are the fastest. For example, fastest to hit 10M, 20M, etc. For example, the Wii was the fastest selling console to hit 50M, but not fastest selling console to h...

Well then your opinion about the score is pointless since you only got through a fifth of the game.

No offense, but I find it really hard to believe that you have beaten both of those RPG's given that one is 20 hours and the other is almost 100 hours long and they came out like two weeks ago.

And I'm saying it's pointless to look at the past to suggest that it will even come out next year based on what Nintendo has said and the current environment.

It won't come out next year. It will be at least year 7.

At best they'll offer a revision in 2023. They aren't launching a Switch successor until 2024. I'd bet on it

Nintendo has said, repeatedly, that the Switch will have a longer lifespan than their past consoles and this was before the chip shortage.

So the past is not indicative of the present.

Yeah, you wish. It's literally up YoY in Europe

A console can be either home or handheld. Video game console is generic and not specific. Regardless of what you think the Switch is, it's still a video game console.

Slight drop YoY, but that's to be expected given that it's in it's 6th year. Still, great hardware sales. Will become the third best selling console of all time by the end of the year

Switch staying above 300k, and huge boost in supply for PS5. Maybe Sony can hit that 18M FY projection after all.

Nintendo will have shipped 125M by the end of this fiscal year alone (March 2023). So they are going to go well above 130M lifetime.

The earliest prototype of a Playstation controller is LITERALLY an SNES gamepad with "Sony Playstation" on it. After that they then went with a controller that had the same rounded edges as an SNES gamepad, but they made the face buttons staggered and removed the select button. Then they made the face buttons symmetrical again and added two slightly staggered additional action buttons (like the N64 pad). Eventually they made their way to the controller we received, with four face bu...

"Dual Analog, Dual Rumble, 4 Shoulder Buttons, Click-in Analog Buttons, 4 button d-pad, Built-in Battery, Standardised Charge Port (not charging consumers for custom cables), Touch-Pad, Share Button, Built-in Mic, Haptic Feedback (far more advanced than HD rumble, not remotely close), Adaptive Triggers."

Touch pad was on the Wii U first with it's touch screen. Wii U also had a microphone first. HD rumble is literally the same as the haptic feedback, they use v...

"It wasn't, none of the consoles after SNES by Nintendo or rival consoles used much of anything SNES had. PlayStation is the only company that has had a standard for their whole entire run,"

Dude, literally the PlayStation took almost everything about it from the SNES aside from two additional bumpers and some handles. Which, again the handles were created because the addition of two bumpers messing with the weight.

There is very little simi...
