A lot of these games aren’t full exclusives as a lot of them are on PC or previous PlayStation consoles. But it’s still a good list of what’s available on its platform that aren’t available on its competitors. Though I do wish they would have stuck with just full exclusives.
It would definitely be worth $60 if they decided to include Oracles of Ages/Seasons.
The Switch doesn’t use disks because it’s a portable console, and isn’t large to contain a disk drive. It has nothing to do with Blu-Ray royalties. The GameCube, Wii, and Wii U all used disks and they weren’t blu-rays either.
@Fallen
“Switch was never #1. PS4 had more quality games than Switch last year and the year before.”
That’s what you stated before. It’s not accurate. You were called out and you moved the goalpost.
PS4 will only have more software sales because it has triple the amount of users. That wasn’t the metric that you were talking about originally though, it’s just another goal post moved.
@Fallen
That isn’t what you said originally, and you’re moving the goal post. Switch had more titles and mor higher rated titles period last year.
Regarding the article, the Switch is set to have more games this year than the PS4 again. In fact, it’s already happening on a weekly basis.
Of those that are which games are “hot”, Pokemon and Animal Crossing and possibly Mario Maker will likely outsell every game this year aside from maybe...
@Fallen
You’re right I must have counted all of Switch games just like you counted all of PS4s. I didn’t realize I did that. That’s what I get for using mobile.
The new number is 125 for PS4 and 171 for Switch.
But you see how the Switch still has the most positively rated titles? Not to mention they had more game releases overall, and they even have less badly rated titles.
@Fallen
You realize you posted a list of all the games over 75 the PS4 has ever had, correct? It contains games that came out on the console in 2013-2018
The number I provided you was JUST for 2018. So, for games released in 2018, the Switch has more games released and more games 75 or above.
Also, for your first link, it clearly lists more Switch games than PS4 games (519 versus PS4’s 407) with a slightly average higher meta score to b...
@Fallen
This is incorrect. In 2018 Switch had the most games overall and the most highly rated games, according to meta critic.
Switch has around 267 games with a 75 or higher
PS4 has around 127 with a 75 or higher.
You assume that after launch month no more units are manufactured for the US for the following month?
That’s an awful interpretation. You can see through trends how holiday sales consistently have the largest sales spikes for November and December, and you see this same trend in the PS4s launch. It absolutely provided them with part of a holiday season which helped maintain sales tragectory.
If launching in the holiday season wasn’t beneficial, why would ...
Yoshi is March, Mario Maker is June,
It’s looking pretty stacked this year.
-Yoshi’s Crafted World
-Mario Maker 2
-Fire Emblem 3 Houses
-Luigi’s Mansion 3
-Zelda: Links Awakening Remake
-Pokemon 2019
-Animal Crossing
-Town
-Daemon Ex Machina
-Astral Chain
-Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3
Actually, you can see the effect of launching in the holiday season here. PS4 launches with greater sales, and faster holiday sales continued while the Switch slowed down.
This is why it looks like a DNA strand.
@aspiringprogenji
I'm not trying to say that pro-consumerism is the only reason they are on top. But the pro-consumerist aspect early this gen is a big part of how they started the lead, which lead to third party deals and exclusives that continued to perpetuate the lead. Of course it helps that they make great games themselves and have a much greater Japanese presence too.
I disagree that they are doing everything right. They are doing a lot right (g...
Sony started its massive lead over Xbox this gen because of its pro-consumerism. Which is what led to better advertising deals and exclusive deals over third party games which perpetuated sales.
But the video gaming industry is a fickle place. Consumers can choose another company for other gens. Look who was in the lead last generation compared to this generation? Look what happened with the Wii U compared to the Switch?
Just because Sony is on the lead ...
No, read the article please. The numbers shown are how much they are down YoY
Luigi’s Mansion 3 in July instead of October seems interesting, but I guess with Animal Crossing in September and Pokemon in November/December they don’t want it to be impacted.
“You say this like Nintendo couldn't make a traditional Zelda game and have it open world?”
You say this like the removal of traditional dungeons and items wasn’t a risk in and of itself.
Also, what about the MK8 teams risk in making a game like Arms? What about the change in gameplay in Let’s Go (which you also criticized)? What about Mario Tactical RPG with guns? Or a third person online shooter from the creator of Animal Crossing? Any of those coun...
On Switch you can voice chat too. It’s dependent on the game just like it is on PS3. And, just like PS3, there is no party chat.
Backing up saves has nothing to do with online, unless you are talking about cloud saves. Which you do have to pay for on the PS3, as well as the Switch.
Trophies, eh I guess. That’s an OS implementation after all. I mentioned messaging. That’s really the only online implementation that’s missing from PS3 to Switch.

@foxtrot
With how many people here have been clamoring for a “traditional Zelda game with dungeons” (including you) I’d say that making BotW the way it is was a risk.
Yeah, I honestly didn’t get all the way through the list. I have a lot of the exclusives though, Spider-Man, Horizon, God of War, Ratchet and Clank, infamous, order 1886, etc. And a lot of the non-full exclusives too.
I probably have 100 games with at least 30 of those being exclusive in some way.
