My stand alone Blu-Ray player doesn't play PS3 games for some reason. So I won't be getting any PS3 games.

I heard somewhere that Microsoft has a patented code for their cross game chat. Sony would have to pay royalties. Considering they probably don't want to, they'd have to write their own code. If it hasn't come out yet for PS3 I'm thinking it's either kind of a bitch to write, they're saving it for PS4, or both.

Why I shouldn't buy one in 2012
1: Launch prices are way too expensive
2: First models may be buggy
3: Not many games to start with
4: Newer, more reliable models with larger storage capacity seems like a guarantee a few years after launch

Large possibility of selling a day one console on eBay for twice the launch price because some people just can't wait

Movies were released in beta format along with VHS. But beta died off.

UMDs are in the same boat as all alternate formats that were simply never adopted as a standard.
It's probably uncompressed audio. But this supposed size does pose a problem for PS3 games because the PS3 can only read up to a dual layer disc.
