We'll see how it turns out for me, I'm entering uni next September for a four year course on game development. I have no preconceived notions that I'll make any money at all. I just know that I like coding, games, and fashioning stories.
I get where you're coming from, but what if the silent protagonist of Bioshock could speak? He would have reacted to a bunch of things in the story that would have made them stand out more. It's hard to get across what I'm thinking without spoiling plot (don't worry, I won't).
Basically, if he could react every time he harvested a little sister, it would have made taking a little sister's life a meaningful, because by extension, you're hurting the...
But, the Final Fantasy games are classified as role playing, and they have main characters that are developed and can speak. Immersion doesn't come from a silent protagonist, it comes from how much the story, gameplay, and artistic design draws you in. If the main character doesn't talk, how does it draw you in? It creates a barrier because you know that you are only playing as the main character, not that you are the main character.
All of this math is making my brain hurt.
Yeah, I know. I was just joking about waiting for good news from one game at a time. It doesn't matter if each game comes from the same pub/dev or not.
I recommend Skyrim Nexus. I'm pretty sure they've got all the mods from Steam Workshop too.
"I take it she's never been to prison either." Haha, that's golden. Great read. I think it's fine how the trailer went down, I mean, if video games are supposed to progress, we have to keep an open mind. Using reason, we should deduce that no one is condoning this behaviour. There's been plenty worse done in the movie industry, anyways. These villains are cold, not teddy bears.
Agreed. There are other factors of course. The fans, the games, the hardware functionality. I just think that marketing is most important because it has the most potential to sway people in their decisions. I wouldn't buy into anyone's marketing though, because I care more about the games than the commercials.
I don't think it matters who releases their console first. As it stands, PS3 and Xbox 360 are pretty close when it comes to total sales, give or take a few hundred thousand. I don't have the actual numbers and I have no idea where to find them. In the end, I think it'll come down to marketing.
Patience, one game at a time :P
Me neither, and me too. Would have been gold on Vita.
Spoken like a true gamer!
For Crysis it's the gameplay I have problems with. The powers weren't used to their fullest extent. I had to remain cloaked throughout most of the game. Mind you, I've only played Crysis 1 and Warhead, so I know nothing of Crysis 2. The story could use work, but that's a whole other issue that I'm not gonna touch base on.
I wouldn't worry, from what I've heard about Sony's developing of the PS4, they're making huge improvements. As in, they're working with developers while they create the PS4, so this time around the PS4 is easier to develop for, this should reduce the costs of making a game, and provide headroom for more innovations.
Execute it like this
--> Turok + Battlefield = Battlerok!
But in all seriousness, I'd be content with just putting dinosaurs on the multiplayer maps until they came up with an actual game mode involving them.
Or, as an alternative, wouldn't whatever is in the cube be in the source code? Crack the source code, crack the cube.
But will he bite? Ill take any bets :P
Awesome, they've improved on the comedic dialogue. I loved the little bits of comedy sprinkled into Borderlands, in fact, I want more of it.
I like the cinematic experience in gaming, it makes a game epic. Consider Uncharted 3 what with its explosions and set pieces and how the camera worked around these scenes. I also like the kinetic experience in gaming (kinetic as in it keeps a story moving). I don't know what else to call it. Consider Half-Life 2, where there are virtually no disconnects between levels and cutscenes. It just makes the game feel connected and real.
Also, nobody ever needs new technology, i...
Not necessarily the franchise, more the publisher behind it, THQ. I hope they survive their current predicament though, they do have some great games.
