The 360 in its second year has managed to sell, with all of its really big hitters coming out, just 7.3M units. The PS3 with only a handful of big hitters and competition on both sides from Microsoft and Nintendo (that remember the 360 didn’t have in its first year), has managed to sell in 14 months 8.9M units. Europe still has 3-4 months of sales yet to reach one year. So if we take the 8.9 as it stands now and include 3-4 months of Europe sales it will probably be about 10-10.5M units by Ap...
You state the “HEAVY HITTERS” that are coming didn’t help PS3’s sales figures. Perhaps those individuals that haven’t bought a PS3 yet are waiting till those titles are out first before they buy a PS3. Its also why most people here and analysts are predicting 2008 to be a better year for Sony. To use your logic on this one is like stating only those xbox owners that were only interested in Halo 3 bought there machine 2 years ago and waited. No, of course they didn’t, if they were only interes...
The PS3 has only been sale in America and Japan for 1 year. Europe is still 3 months off from reaching its 1 year anniversary. The difference in sales figures for 1 year global are only going to increase. So anyone saying now that the PS3 isn't selling well compared to the xbox 360's first year are clearly delusional.
I was really interested in this game, but when those reviews came out! ...However, just before Christmas, the GAME store here in the UK, reduced it for their pre-christmas sale from 44.95 to 29.95, so I took a chance and bought it.
Now prior to this game, I’d just completed Uncharted, and having now completed Assassins Creed, to me the graphics don’t compare, Uncharted really looks next gen, and makes Assassins Creed in places look distinctly last gen, even the animation in...
quote: "And so much more main hitters with scores mostly average over 90% (PS3 got NONE)"
Really, you state above VF5, its got an average score on the 360 of 89%. So you have two options, 1. you class it as AAA title, (well then that makes a few more titles on the PS3 AAA then doesn't it.)
Or 2. You don't class it as AAA, and you've just been caught lying.
Next, you state Call of Duty 4, on the PS3 this scores an average of 94%, so you're...
For the xbots, just a little basic math here for anyone here who denies that sony’s machine is doing well in Europe (except in the UK, but it’s slowly gaining momentum here too). Europe as a whole is just as big a market as America, the PS3 is only just about to pass the 3 million mark there.
The 360 is at 4,779,701 units in Europe. It was launched in Nov 2005, so that’s nearly 26 months now on sale.
4,779,701 divided by 26 = 183,835 average units sold a month.
...
Think if you check the figures for units sold, not shipped, you'll find that from the dates of 22 Nov 2005 to 27 Nov 2006, the xbox 360's figures are at 5.9 Mil. Not the ten you state, which is for units shipped.
The PS3 launched in USA and Japan one year ago, but has only been on sale on the international scene since Spring this year, and its sales so far are at 5.75 mil.
So in comparison considering Sony's machine hasn't been sold globally for a year yet, its ...
Only “rofldings” stated anything about MGS4, and that was only as a jibe against you for such fanboy comments regarding Bioshock coming to PS3. Admittedly some Sony fanboys seem to think Bioshock was still coming to their beloved console, but the majority already new this was unlikely.
So why bring up this old flogged horse of a story about MGS4 and the 360, it’s already been put to rest more times on this site than probably any other story, or are you just that desperate to ge...
Xbot behaves likes small child, pointing finger. I’ve got it and you haven’t, na na nana na.
SLAP.
Xbot runs to mummy, he’s picking on me.
Guess those Sony fans with PC’s will just buy that version instead.
So called exclusive! It never was coming to PS3, this is news?
Funny how you only post the US figures, lets take a look at global figures shall we.
Global Hardware Sales 2007, up until September 30th.
PlayStation 3 - 3,930,000
Xbox 360 - 3,000,000
Of cause those figures will be slightly out now, but their not far off. Google is our friend.
He can't face it that the PS3 gets another good title. He lives in his own little fantasy land, he even said to me yesterday that the 360's failure rate is actually 10-15% (according to him and some of his XBL friends), not 30%, because that number was due to PS3 fandroids rigging an online survey. How desperate can an xbot get, just look towards Mart for your answer.
A three years full warranty would have to make the 360’s failure rate an instant non issue, its sticking a plaster on a gaping wound. Are you really that stupid to realise it was Microsoft’s only way out, they could still face the probability court action over this from consumer rights.
You realise you don’t have a leg to stand on in giving programming expertise, so you resort to just saying the PS3 is just a blu-ray player. Jeez, like I said plenty of developers out there and ...
Your excuse for having one bubble numerous time in the past is that ps3 fanboys didn’t want to hear the truth (the truth as you see it that is). Perhaps PC, Wii and even 360 owners disagreed with your comments because they were of low quality adding nothing to the subject matter, spamming and generally trolling the PS3 forums and being insulting. Your comments are not in general based on facts, and you’ve been caught out on many an occasion spreading FUD. You speak your mind, but with the ove...
but then don’t deny the fact that you’ve been down to one bubble many a time yourself, so to argue the fact your not as bad as him because at this present moment you have 5 bubbles really doesn’t change the fact your one of the worse fanboys here. If all the members here on N4G took a vote on your being one of, if not the biggest xbot here, you know that you’d loose that argument.
With regard to the memory probs, using your description of chewing gum to fix a leaking bath tub m...
you've been pushed into second place, Nasim taken your crown has he, but never mind. Keep up with the biased, stupid, comments and i'm sure before long you'll of taken your crown back as the saddest fanboy the internet has ever seen. I'm backing you all the way Mart, keep up the sad, fanboy comments that hold no weight to them, you offer entertainment value if nothing else. Lesson below Mart in how to sound unbiased and get along with everyone....
The memory issues we all know ...
Bubbles for you. Always nice to read a well written, intelligent post. An unbiased view, just well thought out.
Some people here also fail to realise that there are other countries outside of the US of A, and that’s all NPD figures are showing, and that even if sales in one European country are 11k units, add that to the next European country, and the next etc. sales of the PS3 are doing OK over here. Hell, some countries here in Europe are barely the size of one US state, so ...
that 360 sales must also be low in your book.
The 360 had a global launch in Dec of 2005, and by end of Sept 2006 had reached 6 million sales in 10 months. The PS3 is actually between 5.5 to 6 million sales to date, but remember it only launched in Nov of 2006 in the US and Japan, Europe didn’t get it until March of this year. So the first 4 months weren’t global, and its only been approx 6-7 months in Europe. And yet it still manages to pretty much equal sales numbers of the 3...
Well for me Half-life takes it, and going by critical acclaim, most game journalists over the years prefer the Halflife games over Halo. Don’t get me wrong, Halo is a good franchise, I remember looking forward to getting it on PC, but then MS came along needing a killer game for its new Xbox console, snapped Bungie up, and delayed the launch of the game for PC’s, so that they could have a timed exclusive. The first Halo is by far still the best game of the three Halo’s.
Now sco...
How many times do I have state metacritic, your source differs to mine, so we'll have to agree to disagree, but considering you seem so argumentative I know you wont stop so. . . metacritic state Metal Gear Solid for the 3 PS games averages from 94 - 96%. Thats makes and an average of 95. If you want another example (all from gamerankings, your source remember), GTA 3=95.2, Vice City=94.7 and San Andreas=95.3, all for the PS, and average between them 94.8%, usually rounded up, so thats an ave...
Back at you, you also make great points. Some of your points are exactly the ones are was trying to make, guess I didn't word it exactly as I would've liked. Its nice to know that there are other individuals with unbiased views on this site, and that like myself, they would hate to see just one company claim victory and gain a monopoly.
Competition amongst the top 3 manufacturers, keeping each of them on their toes, fueling creativity and reducing prices benefits us the consume...
