Does this mean that third-party developers may not take advantage of the differences in the next-gen consoles (apart from kinect or the DS4) even if it doesn't require much more work?
PS4. I was introduced to the PS1 then the PS2, and now I own a PS3. I prefer the types of exclusive games that Sony produces such as Uncharted, Infamous and Gran Turismo. I won't get the PS4 day one though, I'd rather wait until it has been out for a while and the game library has built up a bit.
So if the dog dies, then he becomes a Ghost Dog?
It is possible for Microsoft to add some of these features back later though, huh? Similar to when Sony removed the otherOS feature from the PS3. MS could wait 12 months or so to allow the install base to grow and then add it to an update.
MS was gambling on Sony to copy their stance on DRM but that didn't happen and all MS did was paint a huge target on themselves. I don't recall EA, Activision or Ubisoft coming out to publicly support MS specifically in regards to DRM thoug...
I'm quite surprised the Microsoft actually did this. Despite the opposition to the DRM etc they still had a large number of people pre-ordering, and they were adamant about their vision for an online console. To flip-flop like this shows that MS is not as strong as it once was, but did they change because of the possible effect on sales or was it due to the anti-DRM supporters?
I wonder what extra content will be coming with the season pass. And does anyone think there could be a 'The Last of Us' movie in the next few years?
Microsoft and Sony will both have to bring their 'A' game at e3 in order to win over gamers. MS will probably try to secure exclusive content as they have in the current generation as they did with GTAIV. Something from Final Fantasy would be huge.
I hope Sony will clarify if they will have any restrictions regarding used games and region free games as well.
How did both companies end up with such similar specifications and features? Both choosing x86, both having similar power on-off features etc. Is it coincidence that Sony and Microsoft ended up with something similar to each other?
MS will lead in the United States mainly to do with the existing Xbox Live users and BC, core titles such as Forza, Halo and Gears. Kinect and apps will play a much larger part than with the 360.
Worldwide, I still think Sony will edge it.
I don't think MS will delay launching the Next XBox. They would not want to give Sony a head start is securing a place in the living rooms of consumers.
Also, if the leaked specs are true, and the Next XBox had 8GB DDR3 RAM, wouldn't third-party developers just go and port from the Next XBox to PS4 without spending the extra time and money optimising it for the PS4 at least in the early life cycle of the generation?
Either way, I doubt MS is all tha...
The Next Xbox will have great games. The PS4 will have great games. The PC will have great games. The WiiU will have great games.
Can't we all just get along?
I'm hoping it'll lead to better game experiences for PS4, Next Xbox and PC gamers too as developers learn how to get the most out of the systems.
Although it would be handy to be able to play PS3 games on the PS4, I don't mind keeping the PS3 for that purpose.
Didn't think of that. Your answer makes a lot of sense. Have a bubble.
GTA London was okay. A modern version with the humour of Snatch and Lock, Stock and two Smoking barrels might be good.
If it were to take place some time after ME3, will it carry over the ending that we chose? Though it would be great to bump into familiar characters but the main cast should be made up of new faces and races instead.
I'm definitely looking forward to GTAV. I played GTA, GTA2, III, VC and SA on the Playstation but skipped IV as I didn't have a PS3. Don't think I'll be skipping out on this one.
But some who watch the movie may want to make their own choice as to who lives or dies. Also, will we be able to complain to the movie studio to change the ending if we don't like it?
Ditto. I'm sure whatever Naughty Dog has in store will be good.
Price will definitely play a factor in sales. Both consoles start at zero userbase. For early adopters, it'll be up to current PS+ and/or Xbox Live users whether to choose one or both consoles. Backwards compatibility is a lesser factor, but those who choose to have it may have to keep their current gen console until Gaikai is up and running or whatever solution MS comes up with.
