Is Microsoft requiring all games for Xbox One to have Kinect features similar to Sony requiring remote play on the Vita? If they are then it would go a long way to justify its inclusion as part of the system, rather than an extra that is forced upon the consumer.
Photo-realistic graphics with Oculus rift would be amazing.
I don't know much about how this stuff works, but if the PS4 and Xbox One are now similar to a PC, shouldn't that make it easier for developers to get most games to be 1080p and 60fps if it makes for a better experience?
I don't think of myself as a fanboy. My preference would be for Sony. tbh I've never even owned a SEGA or Nintendo console. I'm a single console owner due to money and personal preference but I did once preorder the Mass Effect CE when it first came out just so I could play it on a friend's Xbox. It was well worth it.
I know this won't happen ever, buy why can't companies stop with the marketing bull and just level with us?
I want MS to present to us how they decided to make the Xbox One, what made them choose the ram setup, kinect and everything else in a way similar to what Mark Cerny did for Sony. I want developers to level with us and tell us what strengths each console has and how they intend to use them. If one console has an advantage, I want third-party developers to use it unless ...
Xbox fans think the Xbox One launch lineup is the best, Sony fans think the PS4 lineup is the best. You know what, you're both right because it is simply your opinion. Personally, I'm not really interested in either set of launch games. I'm not really into racing games, definitely not into FPS, neither Knack nor Dead Rising 3 interest me at all. I'll likely get a PS4 but just like the current gen I'm going to wait a year or three before picking one up.
This next-gen console race looks like the start of an even bigger fanboy war than we have with the current-gen.
I think it may be premature to label a winner before the Xbox One and PS4 launch. The PS3 was in last place for a long time and it has now edged ahead of the 360 in worldwide sales, and the Wii is still number 1.
Anything is possible.
My console of choice comes down to lack of money to buy more than one system + games, and a lot less time to play games. I would love to be in a position to own all 3 consoles, and a gaming PC, and have all the time in the world to play it but I will have to wait until I win the lottery.
There are still many people who will be buying the Xbox One in both the USA and UK. Without the head start and cheaper price the 360 had over the PS3, the Xbox One may find itself behind and MS is sure to advertise a lot to convince consumers to choose them instead of Sony.
RYSE was meant to be a Kinect game but then it wasn't. Perhaps there will be Kinect-only games such as Kinect Sports but I don't recall Titanfall or Dead Rising 3 having Kinect features. Also no mention of the 'You are the controller' by MS. Kinect 2 appears to be an integral part of the console, yet it is not mandatory for a majority of the games on the system. Is it just to change the tv channel and skype?
I'm happy to be able to choose if I want the cam...
Does this mean that if it comes to the PS4, then it will only be a port of the 360 version because of Microsoft's cloud computing?
I wonder if the 'Master Plan' includes PS5, 6 and 7?
I agree. I expect multiplatform titles to be very similar and sites like Digital Foundry will point out the differences just as they do in the current gen. First party developers will be the ones pushing the systems and we'll have great exclusive titles on both consoles. It would be better to compare the PS4, Xbox One and WiiU in a year or two after Sony and MS have launched their consoles.
The install base makes it relevant. I hope Sony can continue to support the PS3 for a few more years at least, just as they did with their previous consoles.
What I would like to see is Microsoft have someone come out and do a presentation much like Mark Cerny did at Gamelab and to explain their design for the console architecture etc in the Xbox One.
Sony appears to have a slight edge in regards to positive press at the moment imo, with MS trying to recover lost ground due to the mixed messages given out and their recent reversal of DRM/always online policies. MS has said they are launching in 21 countries, does anyone know if Sony has said anything similar regarding where it will launch?
Sony definitely wants to improve their market share in the USA and UK, though they will need to make sure they can retain their advantage in Ja...
I wonder if this is a sign that Microsoft may not support the 360 for very long after the launch of the Xbox One, with only multiplatform titles coming instead. The 360 has a huge install base and they would be crazy to do so but MS dropped support for the original Xbox fairly quickly so anything could happen. Sony at least has a good track record of supporting their older consoles and hopefully will continue to do so well into the lifecycle of the PS4.
I agree. Sony and Nintendo are far more popular brands than Microsoft when it comes to console gaming in Japan. Both the Xbox and 360 have sold poorly despite MS securing a number of exclusives early on for each console. If Sony has a decent head start in the market, that along with the cheaper price and an aggressive push to attract developers will leave MS with a mountain to climb once again.
Anything is possible. They have changed their policies once already.
I think the advantages for Sony lie in the brand, price and library of games.
Not all indie games will be exclusive to Sony and I expect many titles to appear on Xbox One later especially if they change their policies to attract indie developers.
