How big is your modern games library? I'm asking about about the modern games that utilize that systems full potential and where created in the past few years? Are you able to fully emulate the exclusive games from all major consoles?
Those are nice specs but sometimes we don't have the same access to all games on the PC. To my knowledge some popular exclusives can only be played on consoles.
On another note:

There they are. The SteamBoxes are ready for testing.
Exactly he's popular in the entertainment industry. He also makes/has a lot of money. I don't see why he couldn't own several systems of every make or brand. This doesn't make him any less of a person. I wasn't aware that he had a Nintindo contract.
I'm not really a PC gamer I played a few MMOs on windows XP and tuns of DOS games but once windows started taking over I moved to console for single player games.
I see it like this the PC market needs more alternatives. Having one popular OS ran by a corporation that has been known to implement changes to suit gain at the expense of its loyal customer needs to stop.

Come on explain to me why you'd disagree with the right to control my own update function. If you can't speak publicly in fear of ridicule at least have the decency to send me a PM explaining why you disagree. I always encourage rational and civil conversations with anyone even those with opposing views or interest.
To do a PM left click on my name. Go up in the right corner and look for something on that page below my Moogle avatar. Then click the text that says PM. ...
@Seraphim with DVDS and GAMES then a digital surface integrity check at exchange would solve that. The problem is hardware kiosk aren't created with every type of criminal abuse in mind. This is why they're so easily exploited.
If done right they won't have to play whack-a-mole with people who exploit these services. It'll just cost more to get but in the end it'll pay for itself.
Hardware is a different story.
"download any required update automatically."
I'm not to prone of automatically enforced updates even if they're for the benefit of my experience. I sincerely hope this can be disabled or set to manual mode. I'd hate to wake up one morning and find my system bricked because an unfortunate oversight by the developer team.
I'd like to have the option to let others bata test the updates a few days in the wild before I manually commit to...
I'm sure there're ways.
Holograms aren't easy/cheap to reproduce with average printers. With the right security tracking methods it'd be hard to fake an identity.
I'm saying take the purchasers picture or another form of biometric as evidence. Then also put printed holographic content on the disc to ensure product legitimacy. If both measures are taken for both incoming and outgoing products then a better record is kept of the transaction ...
This is true look at this video. Notice how the audience laughed about it. I'm sure that wasn't the intent of Sony.

That video is proof of Murphy's Law. Sometimes the best recourse is just to laugh and as Hulk_bash1987 and the presenter in this video said "move along." <grin> Please don't forget to have a sense of humor.
I don't know how to convey this without sounding one sided.
What else could they say? If they started making excuses and promoted arrogance that wouldn't have been taken well on any front. If they started saying "Please forgive us" that would've been seen as a weakness. By ignoring it would also be looked down on.
Murphy's law has no predisposition towards reasonable logic or any amount of advance contrivance.

Are you sure? I see the some relevance to your reasoning. They'll clearly want to keep it analogous with their PC OS and mobile devices to promote cross platform acceptance.
I my doubts the XB1 OS will be a direct parallel to windows 8. I assume it will have some overlapping relationships comparable to Microsoft's metro interface but not be a complete variation of windows 8 itself.

Did I say anything or do anything immature by appealing to the community. I'm saying if we don't like how the community is organized or run we don't have to support it by promoting destructive comments.
I looked at his comment. I didn't deny there is some truth in it. I can't speak for others but as a being of free thought and moral understanding I'm capable of modest restraint.

@joke When you take into account the most recent history of failed promises blotched accoutrements and overall anti-consumer nature of Microsoft's PR department you can't just condemn everyone who shows mistrust or disdain.
You also fail to take into account the retroactive opinion of the community. It should be very clear that when a company gets a large following of people hating them. There is a very good reason for that. Likewise, if a company gets a good reputati...
@Feralkitsune
That is currently true but, If the mainstream market industry gets tickled enough these statistics could change.
The PC enthusiast helped shape todays PCs. A lot of respected computer geeks are looking to alternatives. Most of these people are fascinated by gaming, programing and core technologies used for a PC.
Please Take that into account. PC enthusiast have a soft spot for also being into main stream gaming. If Linux kicks o...
I see this extra competition as a good thing. It humbles the industry to move forward in development and not openly allow exploitation of customers.
When you have a competitive market it opens peoples eyes if they have alternatives. Look at it this way. If competition didn't exist when draconian DR policies where announce do you think costumers would've had as much leverage?
I applaud more open competition in the PC gaming market. If successful it cou...
There is also WineHQ for running game applications over Linux.
http://www.winehq.org/
If Companies want to support Values SteamOS they'll do their best to ensure a form of wine compatibility. In this fashion games designed for Windows 1st can easily be ported to wine capable systems such as SteamOS.
A lot of people are looking for alternatives to Windows OS. Microsoft keeps trying to reinv...
I partially agree but the rest I disagree with. In the future if Sony maintains the proper growth that is based on a standard PC-like architecture then compatibility will not suffer.
If the gamers stay vigilant and don't support anti-consumer practices the industry will be humbled and a better place for everyone. I have my doubts though. I can only hope for a bright happy future where the gaming industry doesn't lower itself to the same level as the motion picture ind...
"Our long term vision hasn't changed at all"
Nice catch! Did he slip up and mean something different or did this mean they'll continue towards the anti-consumer practices that where shot down by the community?

I'm a customer. I enjoy games. It doesn't matter if they was made in 1985 or recently released. If I don't like a game based on what I see I'm not going buy it. That doesn't mean I'm poor it just means I have a sense of subjective value.
It doesn't matter what company ruffles my feathers! If they appear to be exploiting me as a customer then I'm no ones B&(%h. I'll speak with my money and opinion.

If linux is popular enough as an employment/profit opportunity do you not think the extra market gained from gamers would go ignored?
I'm saying that if SteamOS takes off organizations and businesses might follow suit creating more apps for linux provided they see enough profit potential. Also consider that gamers start out at early ages. If they grow up accustomed to a linux OS it'll be easier for them to accept it as their primary choice much like I-pad users love t...
