"Xbox 360 – 50.8 million as of 31 December 2010
PlayStation 3 – 47.9 million as of 31 December 2010 "
Xbox 360 - 5 years on the market
PS3 - 4 years on the U.S market, 3.5 years in Eur.
It's amazing the lead was 8m world wide, now down to 2.9m.
Move along folks, nothing to see here.
Agreed, 4gb is more than enough for GAMES.
However, if people do a lot of editing and rendering like with Photoshop, 6gb or more would be nice to have.
I have 6gb myself and only found it not being enough for Photoshop's extremely large photos. But I never really felt the need to get anymore.
Agreed, I would definitely cough up more for a GTX 560 instead.
And for gaming, honestly the Athlon Series is just as good as the phenom. An Athlon X4 640 overclocked to 3.4ghz would be more than enough for today's games. L3 cache doesn't make that big of a difference for AMD chips.
I think Killzone 3 looks better compared to KZ2 overall based on my playthrough with the open beta.
1. More colors
2. No longer uses Quincunx AA and uses MLAA, textures and everything look much more clearer
3. More special effects (especially the water waves)
4. *Better latency* (Not necessarily a visual graphical effect, but on a technical level it is)
5. Better character models
6. Better gun models
7. Crazier and more detailed...
Most likely just for now, and then a couple years or later they will come out with a "Re-boot."
I really hate the idea of re-boots now even in the movie industry. They're re-booting Spider Man and it's not even that old.
"However I hope the code is more optimized this time around because DX 11 so far is a resource hog"
No it's not. It has been used in certain games and shown that it IMPROVES performance. I think Stalker COP was an example of this. The only time it is more taxing on the hardware seems to be when you run Tessellation.
These screens are only in DX9 32Bit.
FAIL.
Why did you hate it so much? It was pretty well received.
I've been waiting for the PC release for ages except they just have to make it the same day as Killzone 3.
Those GTX 560 Ti's sure do have a lot of headroom.
As much as I like competition in the market, nothing has come close to the Starcraft and SC2 experience.
That's entirely true. But we're arguing that what you listed just isn't enough. It's still the same textures and same animations as the console versions. It won't have special lighting or DirectX11 features which is the real complaint.
So all three versions are going to be the same as far as the ground up. But as far as utilizing what the PC is capable of, it's getting the shaft. :(
Makes me sad that I even bothered buying a GTX 580 wh...
"This generation has really seen the PC get bent over because of the PS3 and Xbox360. "
Yeah it's a shame that the PC isn't utilized as much it could be. The only thing I really want developers to do for PC games is AT LEAST OPTIMIZE it as much as possible. All too often I get stupid frame rate dips and see low CPU and GPU usage.
There's worse FPS's out there, conflict denied ops comes to mind.
"Not to mention that other PS3 exclusives like the Ratchet & Clank games were sub-HD as well, running at only 960x704. "
Ratchet & Clank is 1280x704, not 960x704.
"And on top of all that the Gears of War games run at full 720p and look better than 99% of the games on the PS3. "
That's highly subjective. Besides, tell me why there isn't a single game on the 360 that has the graphics of Wipeout HD? Simple, t...
Same here. I cant believe how excited I am for this title. And as for the console vs the PC, the PC version is going to be the one to get.
But playing BC2 on the PS3, I never felt like it was gimped or anything, it's just as fun as the PC game. Except now that I've been playing the PC version daily, I cant go back to the PS3 version. No AA, 30fps, and screen tearing kills it for me now.
It's really a question of is it that consoles cant handle the graphics with that many players? or is it an issue with networking?
As mediocorely received as MAG was, it's able to do 256 players due to them building their network to handle it.
I don't see why 32 players or even 64 players isn't possible. Even Resistance 2 has 64 players online.
LMAO good one. I like the Demon's Souls 2 bit in 2016.
In other news, The Darkness 2 was announced but all that kept going in my head was this

Screen tear is a product of V-Sync being disabled, not an engine.
@Rich
Uncharted 1 didn't have V-Sync enabled because they were still learning the hardware.
Uncharted 2 had V-Sync and triple buffering, and being the geniuses they are at Naughty Dog, they targeted 30fps, no more, no less. If only all console game developers had the same train of thought. The sheer amount of polish is astonishing. That's why I believe Uncharted 3 will...
The marketing for this game is like a fanboy in disguise. They have to bash and parody another genre just to try and make their game look different. All I really see is Unreal Tournament 4 dressed in slightly new coat of paint.
Since I've always enjoyed the Unreal Tournament games, I'm going to give this game a chance.
But who the hell cant be excited for the next awesome military shooter which shall be known as... BATTLEFIELD 3.
I'm not downloading this, why taint the experience if you are already going to buy it. I'll just wait for the retail version.
