According to IGN, the cost of producing the PS3 (40 GB) is now $400. By the end of 08, it will be less than $300 I project.

It will have MGS4 worldwide release. It most likely will have FF XIII in Japan. Killzone 2 and Resistence 2 released in NA and Europe (fps lovers). It will contain the standard HD format in Bluray.

What say you to this? All for $299.99 by Christmas 08. Considering that worldwide sales are in favor of the PS3 along with a narrowing th...

All,

I've confirmed two things...

1. I've confirmed the confirmation of FF XIII news in Famitsu. Any news is better than Wada calling the Wii a 'toy'. Is January this dry if gaming news?

2. Zhuk is a like a talking Pee Wee Herman doll (remember those). Screepy and Repetitive. I commend your loyalty if you worked for Microsoft. If not, I feel sorry for your obvious blind faith.

Join netflix and get bluray rentals for a monthly subscription. You get to keep it as long as you want. Return it when you're done and get another one. Its no VOD but then again, does Joe user really care for it. This service directly competes with the rental business. This has nothing to do with ownership of digital downloads. Rentals are nice, but I'd rather not have the hassle of connecting to the itunes service to get it, or through Apple TV, or through a computer connection to my H...

Is in direct competition with the rental business like Blockbuster and Netflix. Bluray will not be impacted here. Unless Apple can provide me with a way to purchase and on HD content (well catalogued), I don't see how they are competing with Bluray.

If I were Apple, I'd offer a monthly subsription plan to download X movies per month. This is true VOD. That will send Netflix in a state of panic.

America is going through playoff fever right now and will eat up anything football related. I think most have had their Madden fix so they are looking for something fresh.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Divx aquisition would do things...

1. Ensure codec for HD format for all things Sony and beyond

2. Scale back / remove Divx support on the 360. Microsoft already has WMV HD.

I have this feeling that the HD media format (Blue Ray) is not the end goal here ... Microsoft's aim was always digital distribution. Even Sir Howard Stringer mentioned the plan for 08 and beyond be to battle the software companies.

How will Sony ensure that the video divx downloads are not cracked and redistributed? Is there any point to adding security measures as they eventually are rendered ineffective. Whatever Sony's plan is going forward with digital content will be divx powered. It only makes sense. One would even conclude that the blue ray rips will also be divx driven. PSP with divx support coming is inevitable. I just have questions on their policy if I wanted to play the same divx movie on my PC HDD as ...

The sooner the better. Transformers on Blue Ray. You know Michael Bay will pull out all the bells and whistles to support his ideal format. I can't wait. Yes, upscaling is nice on my PS3, but nothing like Full HD.

1. Increase stream speeds on Remote Play.

2. Remote Play of movie formats (DVD and Blue Ray)

3. More Playstation One software

4. Embrace Homebrew. Allow me to run emulation without the need for custom firmware.

The point is that Sony and Blue Ray are associated words. You wonder why they packaged a Blue Ray movie in the 40 GB model. The PS3 has been marked more than stand alone players and that's why 3 of my consultants (at work) picked up a PS3 in the last week or so. They wanted it primarily as a Blue Ray until I opened their eyes from the gaming and network aspects.

Blue Ray was ALWAYS the Trojan horse.

A lot of you guys keep pointing to the software attach rate...

My first thought was, "Where the heck am I". I'm floored by the possibilities. Within 6 months you'll see all the Gears maps on UT3 as well as a mutator for some sort of cover system. Action cam is already covered and works very well.

60 fps is pointless on a title like MGS4. I'd rather have all the bells and whistles locked in at 30 fps than a void of textures at 60 fps.

I guess we'd all be spoiled if Kojima and crew gets the game at 60 fps.

Prob an indication of the file size from movie files on BD disc.

Anyway, its a great selling for both the PSP and Blue Ray. Now, add Remote Play for all movie formats and the package looks even more solid.

My PSP and PS3 investment is lookin sweet now.

Warner on Blue Ray. How much did it cost? You think the BDA isn't going to make it all back. I'll tell you one thing, they got a lot of testicular fortitude if this was the case.

Halo Wars and Star Wars. Granted, you could sell anything with Halo in the title but the hype and anticipation for the game isn't there. Where is LittleBigPlanet? I guess Yahoo games don't really know or understand games.

8.5 is a buy. Complaining about installing it to the HD? Why not! Install, play, finish, uninstall. If this means some to no load time, I'm all for it.

Is this install option available for the 360?

Its called not planning well for a barage of new customers... Why the heck would MS offer anything as consolation if it was a DDoS attack? I would not apologize unless I was responsible.

Who didn't expect this? I congratulate Kaz and crew for making the decision to drastically lower the cost of a PS3 and introducing the 40 GB model. The negative press of no PS2 software compatability is no longer the topic of interest. Focus is quite simple in 08. Continue to cut costs of the PS3. I'd imagine seeing the costs further reduced to 349.99 for the 40 GB model and 449.99 for the 80 GB model. I just can't see another 100.00 price cut unless MS cuts the price by 100.00.

Classy comment. Sir, I ask that you think before writing. Being Indian but born and raised in the US, I can assure you that my home country does not have 1/100th the violence or sexual lewdness that the US displays almost daily. Every culture and country has their negatives. I also agree that games don't kill people, idiots do. But, an idiot who plays games makes the idiot a complete immoral fool, thus the problems you see.
