58 ... nice! Bubbles up for being a gamer ;) Hope you don't think I indirectly called you an achievement whore :)
Ah yes .. the software tie in numbers again. Here are the arguments
1. Yes the 360 does have higher tie-ins. It could be higher if not for piracy.
2. So a system sells 10 million units year 1 and year 1 sales of software is 10 million units the tie in is 1. If the system sells an additional 5 million units in year 2 and sells an additional 10 million units the tie in is 1.33. Now in the 3rd year the software is 20 million units and hardware is an additional 5 m...
As a game ... probably not. As a movie franchise ... I think so. Star Wars didn't matter until Episodes I, II, and III were created. Folks were content with IV, V, and VI. I think they still are :)
Excellent post CandianGuy420. Like I said below ... conveying the value of a PS3 at a higher price point will be a challenge for Sony. Judging by the NPD numbers and Year-over-Year increases, I think its working.
if one wants to talk about affordability ... the Nintendo Wii is still @ $250.00. Buy an extra controller and game and your looking at over $300.00 for a gaming system that still sells 500,000+ in a month.
You take the arcade/core system and buy all the necessary accessories ... like ActionBastard said in an earlier post ... its more than $300.00.
The problem is conveying the overall value at the current price point. Consumers screamed too expensive at $499.99 and ...
You can't depend on third parties because of the following
1. Third parties already had a year head start with 360 dev kits so a majority of titles are still lead on the 360
2. No on the table offers like MS is doing. MS is paying for exclusive DLC although I think some of that money spent is to make a title no longer third party exclusive. Case in point ... GTA IV.
3. Cost of game development. Its too expensive to develop solely on one platform an expect to sel...
He's a wannabee raper that wants to be a gamer. He's also that guy from Xbox Live that can't say a sentence without a curse or HO reference.
I am going to whoop Souljaaaaaa Boy in LIPS the game! Then I'll whoooooop him in that In The Movies game!
360 outsells the PS3 ... PS2 outsells both. Wild times in Japan! Go Go PSP!
Girl gamers I know are cool ... then again, I only know one :)
Anyone know the launch date of the Capcom store on PSN?
right because Sony has an OS as well to compare to?
Fallout 3 + PS3 = last gen? So you're saying that Fallout 3 360 is less last gen then Fallout 3 PS3.
110.5% agree!
My only problem is the lack of information that PSM3 provides in their update on the PS3 version. IGN did not make any comments comparing the two graphically but said the version looked sharp and the frame rate was solid.
I highly doubt they will pull a Double Agent on us!
Lets be real here. Not only are $59.99 games pirated but so are bargain bin games for $19.99.
exactly!
Bubbles for reading the article!
That is what I want to know. Bioshock looked slightly worse than the 360 version running in 1080p but my opinion changed after running in 720p and after 2K confirmed a patch for the Big Daddy textures. Why not throw some comparison screenshots to prove your statement? Why not throw in a video or two to validate your claims that the PS3 has inferior frame rates when you claimed in your article that the 360 might have the same issue but you haven't played those levels yet? Why mention it in...
I just don't think there is software out for the PS3 right now in Japan to create a spur in sales. I don't think GTA IV is it. LBP might do the trick but its gained for attention in NA and EU than Japan. 360 had Tales and Infinite to boost sales!
what is the difference? Anyone care to ask?
what is the difference? I need a bit more than a one paragraph introductory to the comparison.
I guess you don't like competition ...
