What about xbox one at launch and ps3 at launch? You didn't say anything about what those consoles represented. If anything, those consoles underperformed at launch, and weren't aided by fanboyism.
Inflation, added cost of developing games for gen 9 hardware, mid titles, and a customer base that doesn't care and wants games to remain the same price forever.
Tons of people only play FIFA. Instead of spending $60-100 (depending on where you live) on the new FIFA title, you could just have GP and save money.
Don't fret about sustainability. Your favorite game company isn't going anywhere. Microsoft and Playstation pay the publishers to have their games on their streaming platforms.
But also, companies aren't your friends. Don't fetishize capitalism.
Naive me jumped on PS Plus when it first became about receiving free games (up until then, a glitch allowed me to play PS4 online for several years without actively having a subscription). Sometimes you go through financial trouble, so I cancelled the PS Plus, only to realize that I didn't have access to any of those games anymore. I never re-activated my subscription.
While there are night and day improvements to textures and assets such as character portraits and maps, contrary to the article, it doesn't seem like they touch any sprites with this romhack.
How do you know this unannounced theoretical game will take full advantage of the PS5?
Where's the hype? Gen 9 has almost been a complete wet fart, thanks in no small part to the pandemic fucking up dev cycles, but tell me, who is excited for a L4D/Destiny clone where you shoot vampires in 2023? It's like, a game no one really asked for. It looks like it's trying to bite Fortnite's aesthetic. And it's developed by Arkane, whose games famously (and unfairly) attract zero hype.
Smells like publishers fucking with devs again.
There's no Metal Gear without Kojima. Period.
Hahaha stupid companies. Don't like....I dunno....make the game you told us you were making? Who approved the box art layout? Fired.
It's not like companies lie right? Why would a company potentially shoot themselves in the foot by saying "yeah, no, we aren't skilled enough to develop our game for the Switch"?
The reason why they haven't provided a committal answer to "why is there no CoD on Switch" is because they have nothing to gain by saying it can't, and everything to lost by committing to a "Yes" and then the game performing poorly.
Them playing with console exclusivity is not what earned SE a negative reputation. For years, Square games were literally ONLY on SNES, then for years, they were ONLY on PS1, then for years, they were ONLY on PS2. See the pattern emerging?
SE earned themselves a negative reputation by abandoning the game design practices that made them a household name in the first place, and then opting to explore web3 gaming instead of developing games people want to play. FF14 aside, SE ...
How do you put your money where your mouth is by not liking something? Why would someone buy the thing they're actively not wanting? TB combat is a hallmark of JRPGS, whether you find it tedious or not, some people find it a comforting familiar mechanic.
People don't buy Persona? Huh? 15.5 million units sold of Persona 5 would like a word.
I also have a hot take on FF16, I just don't have a snazzy website to clutter the internet with my overwritten think piece.
It seems like these days, the gaming industry is literally just throwing billions of dollars at the wall and hoping something sticks. No fucking shit CoD won't run well on Switch. Nintendo isn't vying to be the Cadillac of consoles. They know their niche, and they profit handsomely by sticking to it. No one is calling for CoD to be on Switch either. People for some reason want a new console with more power from Nintendo, for reasons no one has been able to effectively articulate to me...
Source: trust me bro!
GTFO "next system launching next year"
So because you don't like that the PS5 version of a game is essentially just a prettier version of a PS4 game, you engage in piracy?
The Division 2....that came out 4 years ago?
Leave last gen behind? Taking full advantage? My brother in Christ, no one is buying The Division 2 period.
Hmmm, a game developed by streamers. I'm sure gamers won't feel alienated by this at all.
