By the time Nintendo launches a console capable of those benchmarks, the standard will have progressed to 8K 120fps, and people will still be complaining that Zelda doesn't look as good as CoD.
Low enough to generate clicks, close enough to the pack to not raise eyebrows.
Like, do words not mean anything these days?
"Tears of the Kingdom is, in many ways, a superior version of Breath of the Wild. Resolves limitations, improves game mechanics, expands the narrative, and pays more attention to the main characters."
But somehow that means that the game feels uninspired?
Graspin at straws here.
Hellblade 1 was a phenomenal, albeit short, experience. Highly underrated because the publisher of the game doesn't understand that Xbox gamers don't like these types of games. Hellblade 2, other than the GORGEOUS graphics, isn't likely to change the tides for Xbox. I would love to be proven wrong.
The enlightened centrists on N4G who find your comment will downvote it, but that's exactly what the reviewer is doing.
Stop expecting Nintendo to release a console that makes you feel like a big Sony or Xbox boy. Nintendo has never engaged with Sony or MS on this level. They make Nintendo games, on a Nintendo console. If you need a 60fps adventure game to feel like you're not wasting your life, go play Horizon on PC.
Rating a Zelda game on Switch a 6/10 based on the game running at 30 fps (which is standard for console games) is the definition of asinine.
An open world game should not be punished for being an open world game. If that's his major beef, then he just isn't a fan of open world games. Criticizing an open world game for copy and paste goals, lifeless zones, lack of NPCs, and poor level design is fair. Macro game design philosophy isn't a negative. You wouldn't review Doom Eternal a 6/10 because "I'm tired of FPS games".
If I ran an independent games journo outlet, and the only way I had to get people to come to my website is to make insane reviews that look like such a statistical outlier it's suprising it's getting any traction at all.......I dunno.....I might feel bad about myself.
What does that mean? They put out Zelda games regularly. No one is earnestly playing any of the 20+ Zelda games and thinking "man, this reminds me of the first time I played Zelda on NES".
TOTK isn't capitalizing on nostalgia. It might just be...... a good game.
It's interesting seeing people try their damndest to find something wrong with BOTW. It's literally the best reviewed gaming product of all time, from literally every single journalistic outlet including mainstream media. But unless it exactly resembles what people subconsciously think they need from a Zelda experience, it's "a huge turnoff".
I think we're nitpicking for the sake of being contrarians in a digital landscape that rewards controversia...
You really feel like Zelda.
It's Bethesda, so "blow her back out" is going to take on a new meaning when we see the collision glitches.
Compared to 2, it's unplayable. But I recently installed D1 off of my old cd-rom, tried it out for a few hours, got down to The Butcher and felt that old familiar "this is just an honest to goodness good game" feeling.
BECAUSE WE DEMAND IT!
FFS gaming journalism is such shite.
COD has literally never been more popular. Every single year it sells more and more copies than the previous year. Don't know what you mean by nosedive.
Overwatch League's longevity hahahahahahaha
OWL was dead 3 years ago.
Nah, there was lots of marketing and talk about Guardians. No one wanted to buy it.
I mean, did it? Deserved better as in, deserved better audience reception? No. It got the reception it got. There weren't external forces at play making the game a wet fart. Tight controls on a generic 3rd person looter shooter isn't really innovative or exciting game mechanics.
It's a Marvel product. We don't need to pretend the MCU is good anymore.
Now let's see 2022 Q4's financial reports.
FFS there's blood in the water here at N4G. Nothing but Xbox/Redfall posts for DAYS.
Saturn #1 all day baby. Genesis and DC are great. Not sure why CD is 4. 32X is underrated. Master System is a nice conversation piece. Game Gear was for kids whose parents got divorced in the 90s. SG1000 doesn't actually exist. It's a fake picture.
