I think they are both pretty decent, but I am like you, I enjoyed Prototype a bit more. I felt more free and powerful in Prototype and although the overall look might not be as shiny it definitely performs better, with better anti-aliasing, less pop-in, more solid framerate, etc.

Outside of PS3 fanboy la la land racing sim fans like both franchises. Some people like Forza better and some people like Gran Turismo better. Personally, I like Forza better because of its greater customizability, better physics and better online options. Forza 3 is looking amazing and I think it is going to win over a whole bunch of new fans.

Uncharted and Killzone 2 look great, but are easily equaled by games like Alan Wake, Mass Effect 2 and Rage. Even games like Gears of War 2 are right up there with them, to the point that people all over the net were arguing about which one looks better. Personally, I think Rage will look better than all of them when it comes out.

Well, that is your opinion. Alan Wake is one of my most anticipated games, right up there with Mass Effect 2 and Uncharted 2. So it very much is "in the same category" for me. God of War 3 is a little down the list for me and does not compare.
I any case, Alan Wake isn't a survival horror game and the fact that you think it is shows that you haven't even paid enough attention to know what the game is about. It is an open-world psychological thriller.

Well, in one of the E3 videos I watched they stated that the campaign is as long as Halo 3's. Plus it has an all new cooperative multiplayer mode. Here is some info from the Microsoft press release:
