I agree that lighting and other effects are much more important to creating realism in games than textures are. Games with good textures but weak lighting always end up looking artificial and somewhat uninteresting to me. I much prefer the look of games with decent textures and great lighting and effects.

I think it looks really amazing graphically. I don't know what game you are looking at. Cryengine 3 hasn't even proven itself on consoles yet, since we haven't seen hardly anything from it except for some carefully controlled tech demos. We've seen a bit more from this and I think it looks pretty impressive. Whether Cryengine 3 will look better on the consoles we will just have to wait and see.
In any case, it looks like PS3/360/PC owners are going to be getting a great game....
Why do people think that the 360 is going to kill off the PS3 or the PS3 is going to kill off the 360. Sorry guys, but that isn't going to happen. Both consoles are here to stay. I will say, though, that when the PS3 gets a price cut, sales are going to explode.
I already have an 80 gig PS3 (MGS4 bundle) and it has backwards compatibility with everything I have thrown at it, so I don't think I would buy a slim at this point, but this is fantastic news for those that haven't got one yet. If this turns out to be true, watch the PS3's sales explode!
Guys, the question itself is pointless. If a person thinks it is worth it, then it is worth it for that person. Some people would say games themselves are a waste of time and money, but it adds value to our lives and we obviously enjoy them, so we pay money for that little bit of happiness and enjoyment.

I don't think we should put too much stock in any rumors. They more often than not end up being false.
But the PS3 is a really great console and I am sure that whenever it does get a price cut it will sell very well.
Not to mention Metal Gear Solid 4 which is 1024x768. Lots of games have been less than HD resolutions, but they still look good.
MGSR, I count 41 PS3 games that are sub-HD resolutions on that list and 26 Xbox 360 games that are sub-HD.
How many articles have we seen about Uncharted 2 having upgraded graphics over Uncharted? I love Uncharted, but don't be so selective in your hate. Not every sequel gets better graphics. I can name games on both consoles whose sequels look essentially no better than their predecessors. Plus they are saying that the graphics are "blowing away Mass Effect 1", so that is certainly news worthy.
Yeah, it's just being upscaled to 1080P. Luckily the 360 has a fantastic hardware scaler.
The market will sort out all these issues. If the pricing is too high, the games won't sell well and the prices will likely drop. Other issues will find a solution through market forces as well. The service has a lot of potential in my eyes.
$19.99 seems reasonable. Not great, but reasonable. If it was $17.99 or something it would be a bargain. I love the idea of having full retail games right on my hard drive that I can play anytime, without getting up and switching a disc.
I can't believe that some people don't understand the HUGE difference between having the option to install a game and a mandatory installation that is required just to play the game.
You're right, the hard drives are a bit pricey. You can get a 120GB hard drive on Ebay for around $50 or $60 though, and I don't think that is too bad.
The new update coming this month also makes game installs smaller, so they take up less space and you can fit more on your hard drive.
Yes, but I like having the option to install a game to my hard drive if I want to. It's nice that some developers are optimizing the games to run from the hard drive if that option is chosen.

How many of you read the article? It gives suggestions with regard to things they hope will change industry-wide. It's not just about the 360.
That's true, you won't see jaggies like that on your tv. I know I didn't see any like that on the first game, which was actually pretty smooth for the most part. All I know is I want this game bad.
