If anything VG usually is on the conservative side of their numbers, and it is doing anything but inflating Xbox 360's numbers.
Take Mass Effect for example. It has been officially announced that they have sold over 1 million units, yet VGC has them listed as only selling barely a half a million. Yeah, they sure do inflate those numbers.
Again, I'll wait for NPD numbers before I conclude who sold more hardware. VGC is everything short of reliable.

I do not understand why Killzone 2 is being touted as this awesome AAA FPS that is going to redefine the genre and kill any FPS before it.
Killzone 1 was a mediocore game at best receiving mixed reviews (Metacritic: 70). I would be extremely surprised if Killzone 2 makes a solid (Metacritic 80+) game. Perhaps until we get that open Beta we'll know a bit more before we start placing the crown on its head.

It really doesn't matter HOW GameDaily found out. They confirmed it with Microsoft and this is proof that VG Chartz, with their initial releasing of numbers, is wrong. Drastically wrong in this case. With an average of 333,333 units the past 3 weeks, VG Chartz said that Mass Effect was selling horribly (~200,000 units the first week).

I am really hoping one day Sony releases the raw data on what people do with the PS3. You know they have to be logging how much time you're playing X, Y, and Z games and how much time you're watching Blu-Ray discs vs. regular DVDs.

I think the developers have kept and ear to the ground and incorporate and make the nessecary changes before release. Probably the reason they haven't shown the multiplayer is they want to hear what people are looking for.

The NPD gets paid to go out and survey retailers to determine the correct sales numbers. It is the NPD's job to get as close as possible to 100%. Companies will use the NPD's data to make future decisions. Companies will use the NPD's data for their own press releases.

You're making that arguement based off of the flawed assumption that everyone who has purchased a PS3 at this time is doing it for the gaming platform.
It has been well established that the PS3 has sold units because it is one of the cheapest BluRay players out there.
I was really really hoping this has a sandbox approach to it like GTA.
Run around, field calls, bust tons of ghosts, have fun.
However this looks to be a true sequel and linear story line, which is fine. It will still rock.
I hope this does well enough to get a sequel that features an open ended world.
