I have it for the 360 and the load times are either instantaneous or very brief, just the same as the PS3's version. There is no real tangible benefit for the install on the PS3.

FFVII also came towards the front end of the PS1's life cycle.
In fact, for the PS1 it was quite unusual for an RPG to be a single disc. The would wager that 80% of the RPGs that went out onto the PS1 that were solid games were 2+ discs.

It depends on the developer. But I agree, there needs to be in game benefits for what you achieve in the game.
Mass Effect did this with their achievements. Like getting 100 kills with the Assault Rifle allows you, in future characters, add an assault rifle ability to any class.

However, MGS4 is NOT a casual game. The stealth action genre is anything but casual. It will sell well, but not for everyone.

The holiday season 2008 will be very telling of the PS3's future. It won't be until then we know pretty well what is probably going to occur.
Agreed. The game felt sluggish. Building combos what more of a chore than it was fun. There was no button to increase speed, it was something of a predetermined time you were running unhindered. I wish there was more and they did something different with the genre.
At least, NG felt faster and smoother.
I never understood the need for Home. I'm glad Xbox does not feel the need to jump all over that and is in a position to re-evaluate in the future to see if they need to go back.
