The better question is…
Why is another Sony exclusive getting these articles when the Witcher 4 sits there quietly?
I get the maga outrage in the comments.. because they are lost.
But, funny how the Witcher 4 is not getting the “controversial” articles.
Will tell you this.. you are almost hitting the nail on the head.
They do not care about gaming.
They care about the global monopoly on computing.
Sony was a leading innovator in this department and Microsoft saw the dangers of Sonys growth in said area while grabbing the attention of the youth through gaming.
A ten year old gamer growing up with a Sony console would then trust their hardware via their computing needs as an adult.
When Microsoft go...
The issue is not “so much to choose from”.
The issue is how many games a year are actually worth it vs how many are just passing time due to boredom.
Game pass needs 4 must haves a year to create value for the subscription.
This has been the issue.
In fact, games that should have been worth have fallen short… thius making the filler games become options due to not finding enjoyment
There is no standard AND money and connections have been driving the reviewing industry for decades.
I had a friend who was off work due to an accident..
Got hired to write reviews for games…
The only standard was the writing quality and at least 3 hours of play time on the game with zero oversight in confirming any play time at all.
At this point, people can only see reviews as marketing. Either to push impulse purchases or to negative...
Award shows are nothing but marketing for those that spend more for marketing.
You have a better chance of being struck by lightning while underwater basket weaving than actually the best of any category actually wining.
But since we are now a society of marketing dollas more than substance/reality… 🤷🏻♀️

I’m getting a vr turned into a “AAA” release because Microsoft bought the ip.
Will it be bad? Ehhhh
Will it be what you are describing? Absolutely not.
The “handheld” will be your phone or tablet,
This same “gaming” company has been promising games for the last decade + as well..,
But have not made anything “new”.
Anybody suckling on their tit is not smarter than a rock.
What Microsoft is testing is seeing who would spend money in a game via season passes and microtransactions per a game through a monthly subscription.
Has absolutely nothing to do with selling the base game.
“Movies are still a thing, studios make exclusive IP. Music is still a thing, studios sign artists exclusively. And wether on TV, streaming services or YouTube: all you find is (channel) exclusive content, too.”
Movies, music etc are not exclusive.
You would be able to say tv shows…
But I can buy any dvd, Blu-ray, streaming device and watch movies.
If I buy music via a cd etc… they are able to play on any device that plays them.
3 in 3d was an amazing experience to be had.
Although not many experienced it as intended for good reasons.
Obscure..
That is not a fact.
Microsoft had far more studios but closed them.
You are listing unreleased titles that we have no clue of not only quality but also actual releases.
There is a real long list of “coming” titles that never saw daylight from Microsoft.
Plus the conversation is about exclusive deals to keep off a competitors hardware.
Microsoft would not exist if it were not for their exclusive contracts.
Mass effect....
Microsoft has not made a new AAA game for well over a decade.
The last in house new AAA game was on the 360.
Being they have had exclusives…
Where did they come from?
80% of game sales have been digital.
Like it or not..majority speaks.
The good thing is that Sony did not shove it down anyone throats…
They have reacted to demand
Sony could always pull a Microsoft and make so few just so they can say sold out…
Are you aware of how many were produced?
Are you aware of how many were sold?
Do you think Sony planned on their most expensive console to appeal to the casual audience… or the hardcore who can afford expensive items that would best utilize said console properly? Ie tv, stereo etc?
Microsoft has “selling” in the bag…
They spend billions in marketing.
It is what they are selling that is the issue.
“Do not sell what the people want, make the people buy what you are selling.
Bill Gates.
The gameplay was dated and nowhere near “new gen”.
I’m sorry… but if halo is going to be worth the money of Microsoft’s money… not even marketing can save mediocre.
It has to move beyond fandoms and innovate.
Players expect more… and no.. PvP is not what made halo famous. Period.
Make a game. If you want players connected, as Microsoft does, then it it has to be co-op through an amazing campaign.
@tacoboto
A person can not play on windows pc without a microsoft account. Period.
And Microsoft counts this as a Xbox gaming scenario.
It is in the code of their operating system and tied to steam.
They very much require you to sign up even though it is disguised.
It is 100% mandatory.
Until the game is actually good, I would expect it not to be multi platform….
Meaning, if they do announce that it is multi platform, the game is not good and the Microsoft platform is dead.
My example is the exact same as they introduced their subscription service…
A game they actually had faith on did not go to gamepass… all others have been beyond disappointing.
They would not have to do much.
Honestly, a 120fps patch and removing the horrible motion blur with solid 1440p graphics and those titles would be amazing.
