I guess at least for me DQXI was such a breath of fresh air by distilling everything that made great old school JRPGS into a wonderful this gen package, great characters, wonderful antagonist, amazing story that kept me very engage until the very end of my 100+ hours, wonderful twists and surprises, and just SO much content it seriously was like a full game plus several expansions into one day one package
I got the Platinum on both DQXI and Trails and I consider DQXI the better game, even though both are really amazing, DQXI it's the best JRPG this generation for me, such a good game, packed with content, it was like a full game with expansions in a single package right from the get go
Wii outsold the PS3 and 360 because they were going for an entirely different market and people
I'm actually thankful, just got the Platinum for Trails of Cold Steel this past Sunday and this week I'm starting trails II. More time to be able to get up to date until the release of the third one

That island it's like 1/50 of the rest of the game.
It was just to much for me. Great game, gorgeous with good gameplay, but just too much.
For me AC: Odyssey felt overwhelmingly big, I could be playing for hours while feeling I made no progress at all, and the world was so big that the traversal to get to new places killed it for me, I just stopped playing.
Exactly they are ONLY reusing AGAIN 20 year old animations for basically 90% of the Pokemons on the game /S.

These "journalists" are SO out of touch with reality, I know I'm super excited about the next-gen even though we are 1 1/2 years away from it and know next to nothing, the excitement can only build up.
I think all of them are very reasonable, you do have to take into account that Sony gives their developers the freedom to do basically whatever they want and actually support it, look at stuff like the Last Guardian and now Dreams as an example, even giving Guerilla they freedom to go from a FPS company to something completely different like Horizon.

That's what I always do, I try to start saving around one year before release of the new generation, I put $50 to the side every month and then when it's finally available to buy It doesn't even feel like I'm buying it out of pocket in a way

I don't even care how good the game will be, it can be the best game ever made in the history of videogames and I will still not buy it, I'm sorry for Respawn but I will never buy another EA game anymore after the "Surprise Mechanics" fiasco.
They want even more people to get in on the "Fun and surprises"
They probably need more "surprise Mechanics" in Anthem, I'm pretty sure that's what EA think the game is missing, so people can have even more fun with it

This was a really good read, I also wish a re-imagining of Phantasy Star as a JRPG again and not the online offshoot (wish can continue on it's own right), this and Skies of Arcadia are wasted opportunities from Sega to have "new" franchises
