To put this in perspective:
Work on WiiU began in/around 2008.
don't use online much, so my info may be a little off...
The Wii was Game based. EACH game had a Friend Code( a long string of numbers), which made online gaming more annoying than it should be.
The 3ds has a System code. Adding someone to your friend list simply required an exchange of codes once, and then they would be permanently added to your friend list. I think you could add Friends in other easier ways such as local wireless, but like I said I don't pla...
This is the same guy who said the 3ds would sell bucketloads at $250. He even said they should have made it MORE expensive.
So I'm not sure he is the best source for these kind of predictions...^_^'
My thinking is $250 To about $350. If higher than $300, it could spell problems, but probably not as deep as Pachter thinks.
Tagging something as "rumor" shouldn't give one free rein to make sensationalist headlines.
Is it coming 100%, or is it a rumor? As no confirmation from a reliable source has been given, we cannot be totally sure and the headline should better represent this.
I still see this happening, and we have been told by Nintendo reps(Scott Moffit, I believe) to expect more announcements.
In my opinion, it may be the last time.
...For traditional HOME console game systems.
In 10 years, we will all be playing our Xbox, PS and Nintendo games where ever we go, and streaming to our TVs when we get home if we so choose.
Everything is getting more compact. I don't see dedicated game systems fading anytime soon, just transforming into something more portable.
I was extremely disappointed, and have expressed it constantly. Several others like me have done the same.
Where have you been?
What if on foot play was like Metroid, and Fox controlled like he does in SSB?(Moved really fast)
That was a rumor from awhile back.
@wira
All those points also apply to Nintendo consoles, Except for the subscription plan bit...
But those non gamers may not be interested in Splinter Cell and TLoU. Perhaps they still have a soft spot for Mario and their Miis.
We also don't know How heavily Nintendo intends to market it or what it will sell for.
There are too many variables that we don't know or have the capacity to understand. If you had told someone a doll of Elmo laughing when he was tickled would be a huge selling toy 30 years ago, they would stare at you like you were crazy. Knowin...
If you go anywhere outside of n4g, the perception of wiiu by writers and gamers is much more positive.
JellyJelly is right.
their conf. was 1 hour.
Their e3 had good content. They didn't fail there. They failed to live up to the potential they had built up for themselves. They failed to take advantage of the upper hand they were given.
They fell short. WAY short. Compared to what it SHOULD have been, they failed. But taken in on its own merit, their e3 wasn't a total failure. It just wasn't all that great.
LittleBigPlanet had the same problems Viva Pinata had, and LBP2 made them all worse.
Especially when there was more then 1 player...@_@
Eh, made me sick....
The color pallet was weird, the framerate was bad, and the lighting exasperated all these issues...
The reason Games are all the same and are dark and "badass" is to achieve a self image of adulthood and gain Media acceptance and legitimacy.
Basically, the western games media and developers are trying to prove they are mature by measuring their dongs.
This is also why the Western Games media has been on an anti Japanese games kick these past 12 or so years: they believe that the colorful and sometimes "kiddy" games made in Japan(and non kiddie on...
TGS has more software diversity than every other Game Convention combined.
And yet, there are people who want Japanese developers to be just like everyone else? To conform to a ridiculous notion of an imaginary "standard"?
Japan is already becoming a shadow of its former self, and why? It is modeling its economy, government everything of of the west. This is no coincidence: they are being forced to conform to a standard that isn't even working a...
I have been despising the "West is better than Japan at making games" stance for the past DECADE. That's how long this ridiculous fallacy has been perpetuated by the western game media, with a clear motive and bias. It's gotten so bad that Japanese game sales outside of Japan are falling, prompting Developers over there to believe it too.
Proof? Look at Nintendo. Their games tend to always sell quite well, and you don't here any of this bullshit coming f...
But if all we do is borrow/we borrow to much, than horizons and ingenuity will shrink.
It is a balancing act. Progression and creative ingenuity are both needed. Continued advancement of what is and creation of what is not yet.
It is also very late....=.=
@niblest
Yeah, I hate it when people do that too.....
*looks at own user name
oh....-.-; nevermind...^__^;
OT
Another point to make is that PC isn't really(if you want to be technical) 1 platform, but a kajillion...^_^;
@pr0digy
Well, personal preference obviously does have a large affect from person to person. (Different strokes for different folks is an adequate, if not a little crude way of putting it. ^_^;)
I'm the exact opposite: Almost none of the games coming for Vita interest me, but the 3ds' lineup has several games I am highly anticipating.(Paper Mario, for instance.)
That really is the beauty of having more than one console on the market: more diversity and...
To me, SG doesn't seem like an result of wiiu, nor a standalone additional product/service/feature, but a logical advancement to a path Ms has been heading in for several years with its approach to xbox and multimedia.
They both came to a similar point but for different reasons and from divergent paths. I also believe their intents and usage will be quite different as well.(wiiu for games and game design features mostly, SG for Multimedia and content management mostly.)
