You dont know what you're talking about. They actually switched out/replaced characters in the game with Joel in the trailers and used aged Joel in flashback scenes that have young Joel in the game, all to make it seem like Joel was part of a greater plot.
They lied in the trailers, made us think Joel would play a bigger part. Misleading marketing to be frank, but now we know they have an agenda with their games at least.
Series X is the better console, if they can bring the games this is going to be one awesome generation.

SyntheticForm: Like I said, the writers are always in control of the story, but some storytellers respect the audiens while others dont. Niel Druckmann did not, its very clear by how he treated the story and the characters. In this case, he should just have made an all new cast and a brand new setting. Why use a story and characters that people have grown fond of just to throw it away? For shock value, and that is very cheap if you ask me.
