Does any one remember back when Blades of Glory was about to be released, in a Press release Paramount was praising Blu-ray because the movie was going to be the first to have uncompressed PCM audio.
Here is a blurb about it from July:
"On August 28th, Paramount will ship its first high definition title to include a lossless or uncompressed soundtrack - 'Blades of Glory'. This title will feature a PCM 5.1 soundtrack for the Blu-ray release, but will feature...
It doesn't really matter if this game is good or not. It has the Bioware pedigree behind it. Therefore, it will automatically get nothing less than 9's.
If you read the GameInformer review, the review spends half the time talking about the story and how great it is. Yet, the paragraph detailing gameplay makes the game seem repetitive and uninspired. Yet, it still gets a 9.75? That is completely due to the Bioware name and their past successes (with the exception of Jade Empire)...
It really does pay to own all three instead of being a slave to one (and the company that produces them). I own all three consoles (only really disappointed with the Wii) and its the only way to go.
I feel sorry for fanboys on both sides who will be missing out on great titles all around because they have some unhealthy attachment to a brand name. Although the fanboy back and forths are pretty funny sometimes.
The only bad thin about owning all three is deciding...
Not too impressed so far. I like the concept and I will keep an open mind when the game comes out, but as of now, it's just "eh"
I have faith in SK though, they haven't let me down yet.
It's simple: Hype and legacy.
Legacy games like Halo, such as Final fantasy, MGS, Zelda, Mario, Metroid, etc., get great scores because of who they are, NOT what they bring to the table.
None of these games are innovative. None of them bring anything new to the table (minor additions do not innovative make). Zelda is perhaps the worse offender. Every game in the series since OoT has used the same formula (level design, plot, etc). Yet, they get awesome scores be...
I can only speak for myself, but I bought it because I enjoyed the story and I really like the other two. So of course I would buy the final installment. It just didn't pull me in the same way the other two did. It felt more like a chore to play just to see how it turned out. The new features, while decent, are not enough to warrant the game as anything above 'good.' Besides, these features everyone seems to be in love with exist in other fps. It is not new to Halo. Hate to break it to you. ...
My tag's right in my profile bro
I should have been more clear. I gave multiplayer a try with one and two. But the experience was ruined by the immaturity of the other players. Kids who thought they were more adult than they actually were.
I understand that multi is what the series is known for, but when I buy a game that is secondary to the campaign. I've maintained my opinion that the series SHOULD have always been multi-only.
I returned my copy. I just couldn't find any redeeming value. I'm not a huge multiplayer fan (too many kids trying to be cool), so I was banking on Halo's story to satisfy. It didn't.
After playing Bioshock, then Heavenly Sword, then going into Halo, I was not floored by the presentation. In parts, the visuals are nice (not good, or great), but the character models, especially close up are "Halo 2 in HD" as people say.
The feel of the game is off as we...
I just started Halo 3, about 3 hours in or so, but I am bored as heck. I have OCD (not really), so I have to finish it. But right now, I am not too impressed.
I don't know what it is. I was so excited by it and couldn't wait to play it. I even stopped playing Heavenly Sword (last chapter)to play. But it just didn't grab me. Its rather, "meh" so far. For those that have finished it, or have gotten farther in the game, does it pick up?
double
I look at it this way:
Why reveal all your cards this early.
If you are pondering a price cut or a 40gb model, why tip it off in September. It is just the beginning of the gaming season. More of the quality titles will be hitting late October and really pick up in November. If there is a price cut, why announce now and risk decreased sales during a traditionally slow month. Instead, wait until late October (R&C, Spiderman on Blu ray) and November in time for the hol...
@BS3
What constitutes AAA?
Score? Cause unlike you lemmings, I buy what I want and not what review sites tell me are good. (I'm probably one of the only ones who enjoyed Way of the Samurai 1& 2(PS2) and Advent Rising) Although I am partial to IGN for other reasons than their games section.
Critical Acclaim? Again, I don't buy into hype and some awesome games have sold horribly.
Units sold?
While you ponder tha...
@BS3
So is intelligence and 360fanboy
Of your list, only Gears and Bioshock are proven hits.
Dead Rising (was ok, with rumour that the second will be multi-plat) Lost Planet (Flop)
Viva Pinata (Flop for what it was trying to be)
The rest, while new IPs, cannot be judged yet. So saying they are "the best", well thats like PS fanboys going off purely based on hype. Which apparently, you don't like.
And using the "etc" doesn't add anything. In fact it just show...
The fact that Halo scored well does not effect Sony in the least. Fanboy delusions aside, everyone knows it will sell well and score well (I've got my copy pre-ordered). I would be surprised if it did not score well.
Also, the mantra that "PS3 has no games" is getting old, bro. No one is buying it anymore. After i finished Bioshock, I went right into Warhawk, Lair (fun game, so reviews be darned) and Heavenly Sword. I literally haven't touched my 360 in almost a month...
Double post. oops
That may have been true in the past, but this gen, the xbox fanboys are doing their best to play catch up in that department. For proof, look at the number of PS fanboys who troll the xbox section compared to the xbox fanboys who troll the PS section bashing any PS related news. The difference is staggering.
I would say a low 9. There are definitely some flaws that the reviewers overlooked and the update ruined it for me with the stuttering and framerate issues.
In my opinion, the game should have ended after the twist and the meeting with AR. The last hour or two hours felt tacked on and the ending(s) were not that impressive. I was seriously disappointed with that after playing for so long, especially since the game up to that point was really good.
@lawman
I saw the exact opposite at the Best Buy in my parents hometown in West Texas. One stack of PS3s (40gb)was down from 40 at 9am to 3 at 7pm. The 80gb was down from 38 to 10 in the same time. The stack of 360s, which included all SKU's (57) was down to 43 in the same period.
