Combat watered down?
Haha that's funny.
This is by far the most challenging and responsive combat Final Fantasy games ever had. Party members in past games always served no purpose in battle. (After all, all they've been were skills selected from a pool in a menu, they had no AI or whatever real use).
I don't think so...
read : Everything -I DON'T LIKE- about jrpgs.
@PaperClichePixel Then you need to browse the fantasy section of your local bookstore.

Stories about coming from the moon and fighting your dark side?
Do you, like, seriously think it's original in any way?
Tons and tons of books have a story close to that...
@Godmars : Yeah sure did.
Chrono Trigger's story was okay. But FF4 ? Seriously? That's paperback fantasy novel fare that's been written hundreds of time.
FF6 was okay, but nothing exceptional.
I'm with you on this.
I enjoyed many RPGs only because of their battle systems, like most Tales games, Star Ocean, Radiata Stories etc.
It amuses me when people say they go into FF for story. FF story are always super generic fantasy / sci fi stuff.
True great RPG stories can be found, like in Persona, or The World Ends With You, or Digital Devil Saga, even Shadow Hearts. But Final Fantasy, great stories? That's a really funny one......
... There are dodge roll abilities in the game...
... What?
That preview tells absolutely nothing about how the game works...
And "Too much story" ?
Really ? The cutscenes are extremely short in the demo, for a final fantasy title...
Wow someone's pissed.
What about having only 12 abilities?
As I remember it, XIII and XIII-2 may have had more available abilities in the battle pool, but most of the time monsters required only 2 different abilities in battle : Their elemental weakness for stagger, then physical attacks to end it quick. In LR, you have to be much more careful about what ability you use, as some deplete your ATB gauge much faster than others and it can really turn the tide ...
Been in relationships all my life, with gamers.
We play together or watch the other play...
Anyway.
Cool story.... ? not.
Do you mean FFXV?
Because XIV has been out for a while now...
And they are getting rid of XIII, but from my demo impressions, they're getting rid of it with a bang! That battle system is pretty great!
Tried the demo, and man, that battle system is actually really, really good. It's really close to what was shown of XIII in the earliest trailers before they made it what it is now.
Also, I like being able to take screenshots at any time, even during cut scenes. Nice touch.
No one should censor anyone.
But also, no one should tell others what to enjoy or not. Sure, some games objectify women. But this is the realm of fantasy we're talking about here.
Some book objectify men (Most Arlequin books for women do just that), some other medias objectify women, and some objectify both.
One may not enjoy such representation, but it's the realm of fantasy, it's a place to enjoy what you can't enjoy in re...
Yay! :D
Lightning Returns:Final Fantasy XIII
If Europe gets LR's demo, I hope NA will get it too. :o
So what, people can't love sex anymore?
Should we also ban adult movies because it could offend kids or their parents?
Anyway, I mostly agree with this article. White knights of morals and values are taking it too far. Don't like it? Don't buy it.
There's been a rivalry between those two games?
What?
Lufia 2 has been remade as an arpg. Bad movie if you ask me. And Breath of Fire's going mobile. I wish they continued with the direction the took with Dragon Quarter. That game really felt different but cool.
... Uh no.
Grinding is as important in this game as it was in every final fantasy before. Because monsters don't give exp doesn't mean they don't make you stronger. There is the canvas of prayer sidequests first, like the author says in the article, but even more importantly, it's by fighting monsters that you'll get duplicate drops of your abilities and be able to fuse them and make them much, much stronger. There's really no other way.
