Most of the comments you post are sensible and well articulated. I like you. :)

Just thought I'd leave that here. Hope it helps with the bitter taste of these topics.

Have you read my comment?

I clearly stated that for most heteronormative games, the LGBT community had no problem with playing straight characters. Because those characters are scripted this way.

What I'm saying is that for a game that markets itself as a simulation of your very own life, that includes relationships and markets it too, this is a sad exclusion.

If there was no relationships in the game, it would not be an issue, and your ...

Yeah... But I don't know who started the controversy.

There's this guy, Tye, who started a movement that in itself was kind of cute, simply asking Nintendo for something... But the whole hate and flame wars certainly did not come from that side, as I see it. All this bile comes from people who are vehemently against homosexuality.

As for me, as a gay man, I simply think it's a missed opportunity for Nintendo, but I won't deprave myself of sle...

Let's not scale offense. ;)

But like I said, the tag line uses the word "Your" 3 times. If that's not putting emphasis on "your" life simulator, I don't know what it is. And Miis have always been about creating pixelated versions of yourself.

Now I'm not saying we should burn nintendo and have them pay for every crime towards the lgbt community in history. I'm just saying I can understand why some persons feel excluded....

Yeah, just looking at the comments on Tomodachi Life, and it's easy to see the hate the LGBT community has to go through...

I'm not saying than everyone who agrees with nintendo is hateful, but a part of them won't hesitate to say that "gays are not normal, f*ags" and plenty other insulting words... :/

The problem may be with the marketing... "Your friends, your drama, your life" makes it appear that Tomodachi is, indeed, a life simulator about YOUR life. And there goes why people feel excluded.

The LGBT community does not complain about games like Mario, or Zelda, or Final Fantasy where characters are created with backstories and all. Those characters are created as heterosexual and everyone's fine with that. But when the character is supposed to be a version...

Not buying the game is only on part of the power people have. They also have the power to petition, to spark controversy, and to talk about it in public...

Yeah but it's not needed in games. Characters could be asexual.

With what they did on 3rd birthday, I'm not so sure...

There is no need to have heterosexuals neither.

But why include only one?

We don't know the story, but anyone with eyes to see can have some first impression about the characters. As I see them, they're in the club of Cloud, Squall, Lightning and co. Quite far away from Rydia or Mog, if you ask me...

But yeah, as far as XVI is concerned, I have good hopes. But I have a feeling XV will have some fans crying, just the same as XIII did.

About your post a bit further : We're not even talking about marriage here, just relationships. That marriage is legally accepted or not is up to debate, but that homosexual relations are not possible is not. Homosexual relationships are natural events and no man-made law will ever stop it from happening. Basically, Nintendo is ignoring a good part of what being human can be...

FFXV looks everything like FFXIII was that pissed off fans. Action battle system? Check. Modern setting with pretty boys? Check. Graphics over everything else? Check.

I believe I'm right in saying that some fans want a return to form. An emphasis on charm, turn based battles, evocative story.

That "modern japan emo shit" is not what most Final Fantasy fans enjoyed in their early days. Just look at FF 1 to 6. It's all high fantasy, with drago...

That battle system never gets old!

Even as far as jrpgs go, I'd say Atlus has the big end of the stick this year. I mean, Persona 5 is much more guaranteed to be of sky high quality compared to recent Final Fantasy outings...

Still, I wish only the best for S-E. I wish they wow us with new titles in their lesser franchises, like Star Ocean or Valkyrie Profile...

Funny thing is : It's much easier to code with same-sex relation ships allowed than the opposite. It just makes it so that any character, regardless of it's gender variable, gets the same event trees as far as romance goes. No need for "if x==male + y==female, this, else x==female + y == female, this, else if..." etc etc etc.

Heterosexual-only romance is in itself a feature, a conscious move by the developers to prevent a situation they don't want.

It's on the 10th spot. That's doing well in my book. :)

Happy to see that child of light did well overseas. :)

You probably were not -that- stoked then. The fact that it uses a turn based battle system has been known for a while now.

Yeah Dragon's Crown really is pretty tame actually. It's sleazy in it's visual design, but that's about it.

I don't believe it would dominate the industry, I mean, there's still more general public content than pornography in dvd rental outlets.
