... Still, it's a tale set in a fantasy world with more deus ex machina than one can shake a fist at. I wouldn't put it in the mature storyline group neither.
I'd say it's a family game, like family movies (Harry Potter, Narnia, Alice in wonderland, Willow etc).
Doesn't mean it's a bad game, but people saying it's the most mature thing ever and that it has a deep, mature story are as naive as those saying it's for kids.
FFIX here. Must admit that gameplay wise, Lightning Returns is a blast.
The only thing video games made me is a bit more chunky, and much better than non-gamers with my hand / eye coordination.
Project Spark is really Little Big Planet 3, go cry sony fanboys!
No really, I think I'd cry. :/
Well said!
They all have high and low points.
Some games show it well. Some devs are master at character development. Thinking of Atlus here, with both Persona and Catherine, that are all about relationships (And demons).
I know I won't like it (Can't stand headphones or wearing glasses), so if it stays, I hope it never becomes mandatory for consoles.
I loved TGFP, I'm sure this one'll be good too, can't wait!
Nope. I don't like fps games.
Hahahahahahahahaha hahahahahh hahaha h.
Really?
"I’m not saying that we should never allow sexual violence to be addressed in games – but it should serve a purpose much greater than just driving the plot forward."
... Then what purpose should it have?
This sentence makes no sense. If there's one adequate use of sexual violence in video games, it's to drive the plot forward and have meaning and impact. If not, it's just rape simulator 2000, and that's something I wouldn't agree...
It's half and half, really. Daytime in Catherine is extensive character development and exposition, advancing the plot, while night time is where the puzzles are at.
The game lasts around 15 hours, and a good 5-6 hours of that time is about the story.
Catherine's box art was spot on. Yeah it was deceiving, but that's the whole point of the game, story-wise. (Catherine being what she is and all, won't spoil it).
Also, all the marketing surrounding that game was about deception and teasing, like the hot pink email Atlus sent to the Atlus faithful mailing list, asking if we still loved them right after they said it was a "japan exclusive".
Video game or not, Silent Hill is a personal horror movie favourite of mine.
I'm surprised it is not on the list.
It's a vita game.
Me too. All 3 games.
I tried Bravely default and... well, meh, as far as turn based RPGs go, I still prefer Persona or the Atelier series.
... Bravely Default was made by Square-Enix.
So because you don't like one game in their library, you want them to completely stop? You're aware that there would never have been a Bravely Default game to start with if S-E didn't make money from it's staple Final Fantasy franchise?
Do you have any idea what you're saying?
:(
There are plenty games that do revolutionary things out there.
Little Big Planet, Sound Shapes, Retro/Grade, TellTales' the walking dead.
But don't expect Ubisoft to do something revolutionary. That would be like asking a major hollywood studio to create a Lars Von Trier type of movie.
Go look at indies and small devs, those are the ones who'll change the face of gaming.
Probably no one here, but I find it fascinating that people say games like FFX have excellent stories, when honestly, such stories come to me as clichéd and full of easy character development.
Not saying that final fantasy games are bad, just not what they're made out to be in some fans eyes.
