It isn't comparable to Live Gold for a couple of good reasons;
1) Demos are FREE on Live.
2) Info and promotional materials are FREE on Live.
Yes you have to pay to play on Live, but let's face it, Live Gold has a hell of a lot of features that PSN does not. In terms of online play it has PSN covered, and easily. You might have to pay, but what you get for your money has an obvious value that makes the payment worthwhile.

Anyone that thinks that this is a 'great' thing is foolish. It's the first step to paying for all the major features of the 'free' PSN. Pay for a demo? Go to hell.

If N4G wants to be taken seriously - and it deserves to be - then they should disable comments. The level of discussion in these responses, and almost all of the threads on this site, have sunk so low that it's pointless reading them.
For hard core fans 90 minute cut scenes might be great, but isn't MGS4 meant to shift units?
With cut-scenes at 90 minutes it slams the door on huge mainstream success. Maybe that doesn't bother you guys, but the PS3 needs titles that bring new people to the table, not just panders to people who, most likely, already have a PS3.
Now I'm thinking MGS4 isn't going to do that, so for this year it's down to LBP and Resistance.
The movie comment is a bit of a worry. I know it's a MG signature, but if the game follows the normal model, then it won't be a mainstream hit.
The MG hardcore will lap it up, the PS3 fans that are curious will pick it up, but that'll be it. I loved the first game, but as the series has gone on the cut-scenes and story have become more and more convoluted and self-indulgent. Unfortunately it wont sell anything like the numbers that Halo 3 and GTAIV have.
I have a sneaking suspicion that this is the PS3 shooter to watch.
I'm beginning to think that Killzone 2 was moved to next year because Sony believes Resistance 2 to be the better game. It makes sense to put your biggest and best out for the holiday rush, and every new snippet that comes out about this game makes it more and more interesting.

Listen, guys, the desperation that's evident in most of these comments is a little hard to take. KZ2 is a videogame, and simply wanting it to be brilliant will not make it so. The quality of this game is not a reflection on you, so why are many of you responding as if your family had been insulted?
It is common for games ON ALL PLATFORMS to look good in video form and turn out to be average. That's the way of the world.

I've seen the GeOW2 footage in 720p on a video projector. It looks amazing, not smeared, not blurred, not in any way compromised. Far more detailed that GeOW.

The claim that Killzone 2 has been delayed because the schedule is 'too busy' is laughable.
If both Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 were going to be ready before Xmas, then Sony would've published Killzone 2 and delayed Resistance 2. Killzone is the flagship title, the knockout blow. The fact that it's delayed, and that Sony are fibbing about it, is a very worrying sign.
Hmmm, surely it's the total sold that counts. What the article is counting on is attach rate, and that's a whole different thing.
Claiming that GTAIV on the PS3 is 'more popular' suggests that total sales don't count, and that is plainly absurd.
Pretty much looks like COD4 to me. That's not a criticism btw, just an observation. I don't get the whole "Whoa, the most amazing graphics EVER!"
Lets be honest, story telling in games is extremely poor. Even the games that are considered to have great stories are third-rate cousins to movies and books.
The MGS storyline isn't anything close to great, it's barely even good. It confuses complexity for meaning and obscurity for truth. In the end the fact that it is trying so hard only underlines it's failure as art and its total inability to enlighten or inform. This is story-telling on par with soap-opera or children's cart...
