Sony has an interest in pushing 3D not because of it's gaming division, but mainly because of it's TV division.
All TV manufacturers need to introduce new rounds of tech in order to convince us to stay on the upgrade bandwagon. HDTV has been successful, but now they need a new sensation to make that 1080p plasma you just bought look old.
3D is it, for now. If that doesn't take off it will be something else.
I have concerns about this, because damn, everything I've seen looks like a long dialogue tree, a lengthy (and average) cutscene or a celebration of QT as the ultimate in gaming evolution.
And what's with the magical glasses? I thought Crane was going for realism?
I want this to be good I really do, but if this game relies on its story telling to sell the experience then it's likely to fail, and fail spectacularly. Video games don't do story well. Even the best game ...
I played it for two or three hours yesterday.
I quite enjoyed it, sure it's not the prettiest game on the planet, but it looks good enough. It's very clear up-front that its a work-in-progress and not indicative of the final game, so maybe there's some polish on the final product that isn't on show in the beta.
I did have some significant lag issues and some hit detection issues (I found an unsuspecting enemy at mid-range and had to drop SIX sniper rounds into his he...
Forget all the other hyped titles. This is the one that will blow everyone away.
If you play online on a regular basis then there is no comparison. Xbox Live is far more fully featured and integrated than PSN. Organising games, messaging and notifications, invites, the party system, gamercards and achievements, even the fact that nearly everyone has a headset on Live.
Do I wish it was free? Of course, but I have a choice between a basic free service (PSN) and a complete and well designed service that I have to pay for (Live)and I opt for the paid service.
Looking at that survey we PSN users are about to get stitched up. Pay for cross-game chat? What?!
All of the arguments about PSN being better than Live 'because it's free' go out the window if Sony charges for ANY of the features that are on MS's machine.
You have to make an inferior service free, what other choice do you have?
I'll buy this day one, not because of Indigo Prophecy, but because of the promise of Indigo Prophecy. The first hour of that game was genius, but after that it quickly devolved into a ridiculous supernatural thriller.
I'm hoping they've learnt from that, but I'm nervous because this game is already cliched. Serial killers? A child lost in an accident? That weird ability the main character seems to have of conjuring objects out of thin air? "Shaaaaaauuuuun!"?
So Sony fulfilled the promise they made for the PS2 four years into the PS3's lifecycle.
Hmmm, at this rate the PS3 should have cross-game chat sometime in 2016.
It is legitimate for a consumer who has a problem to make a noise over it.
There's no need to run to the defense of Microsoft or Sony, they are big corporations and big corporations sometimes have goods/policies that are bad for the end user.
They must laugh when they see so many people rushing over to help them kick dirt over their screw-ups.
It's interesting that PS3 articles with a negative connotation are met with such a sense of moral outrage!

The IGN 7.5 is only listed on the 360 section and brings the average there down to 87. Still, the reviews are overwhelmingly positive at this stage. Don't let one so-so review influence your decision.
Molenuex says this is the 'Project Dmitri' that he's been talking about for years. They started working on this concept straight after 'Black and White' and it will be a full game with objectives and an end.

Waters has exposed himself as just another big-noting journalist caught in the hype-machine. His quote from the time was ridiculous when compared with the reveal;

Let's not kid ourselves, this game is QT heavy.
Maybe this game makes QT work as the key game mechanic, maybe it doesn't. So far the first review supports it, so let's just wait and see.
