In most cases there won't be a difference between 5.1 and 7.1 that translates into an advantage. it's just wishful thinking.
You need to have very specific circumstances for 7.1 to be worthwhile, for most people 5.1 will be as much, or more, than they'll ever need.
Movie critics don't do comparisons but Audio Visual sites compare the same movie on different hardware all the time. It's how they measure one DVD player against another.
Don't deny the process because you don't like the results.

Whatever the final score ends up being, the individual scores from single system sites like Sixaxis, the 'semi-official' Sony blog, are meaningless.

No-one minds CG, the problem is that Sony claimed that the Motorstorm and KZ 2 CG shown at their reveal was real-time.

CG presented as gameplay = Not OK.
