Yeah, developers can achieve this with UE3. But which system can process it in real time with other shit going on?
Insignificant differences. And this whole time all the people bitched about this?
Of course, I agree. Take a look at Mafia 2 and GTA4. Mafia 2 looks better than GTA4 and it runs far more smoothly.
Optimization is key, something that developers today overlook quite easily.
Bad Company 2 is also another example of bad optimization. The game ran butter smooth on my PS3, but on my PC it just starts to drop frames from 60 to 20-30fps for no apparent reason behind it, there's nothing going on on the screen.
Battlefield 3 is...
I don't have a problem with multiplatform games when it comes to graphics, but I do have a problem with the lousy performance PC games have lately, because they are console ports.
Terribly horrible.
Today games themselves don't matter to reviewers. It all boils down to the hype produced and who is behind it. God forbid a low-profile studio makes an excellent game.. They'll be smacked around from all sides.
The only positive side of HD re-releases (I refuse to call them remakes) is that the crowd who missed those games before get to play them now, since backwards compatibility this gen is almost a no-go. I haven't played MGS2 and 3 and I sure wish I have. If my PS3 didn't die, I'd get the HD collection without a second thought.
I am a former PS3 owner and looking at the countless 360/ps3 comparisons, even in games like Red Dead Redemption where there was a big difference, it didn't matter to me. Great graphics are a bonus, gameplay is what matters.
Plus, solid performance is what I value, I don't care if there is aliasing, pop in, HDR or a low level of detail as long as the game stays above 30fps.
I'll be picking up BF3 for PC. I don't actually have a choice really, ...
Okay this is just plain BAD.
I don't understand what the big fuss is about, the game looks absolutely solid on PS3.
Looks absolutely fantastic, can't wait to get my hands on it. Just get it out on PC already if you don't mind!
The journalist looks drunk. Sort of.
I sure miss my console right now. Damn you PC for getting shunted all the time!
I ain't moving from W7.
Well, to each his own. I don't like it when a game leads my hand, but I just couldn't get into FC2 as others did.
I do not belong in that class of gamers, and I still found the game boring.
It aches when I remember the 15 minute drives, only to be run over by them savages when inches away, then having to do the whole drive, AGAIN.
I blame Ubisoft. Other companies have to deal with pirates as well, and they release PC games on the same date as the console versions.
Where are the monstrous vehicle battles? I want to see that and destruction! Oh god, the game looks so awesome I think my PC is going to die when I put the game in the drive.
That's a good thing because that game was BORING, unlike the first Far Cry, which this looks more alike to.
BRING ON FC3!
It's either badly optimized or just horribly restrictive about game options, requiring massive config file overhauls. Batman and UT3 are about the only 2 UE3 games I didn't have problems with..
