This is good. No more hunting for the disc.
Lots to look forward to!
I was hoping for something else. Perhaps a Star Wars game that wasn't The Force Unleashed. But this is ok, too.
Well, there are the numbers. Life didn't end.
I use Netflix streaming on my PS3 all the time. Any upgrades are surely welcome!
Excellent comment. Now is a good time to get in on the 360. There are tons of games available and Kinect will add new capabilities.
If there is anything good to take away from these sales threads it's that the market is still strong. Some people think that a true "gamer" shouldn't care about this, but I disagree. How well consoles and games sell determines how willing developers are to invest in new games. So as "gamers" it is our responsibility to...
And I don't believe that anyone said it was.
Wait a minute. How are console sales figures not news again? Look, if you don't like the console news comments, then just stay out of the threads. That's much easier than expecting absolutely everyone else to conform to how you think it should be.
I wonder what people would do if one month they all sold exactly the same number of units? I guess they'd find something to argue about.
Don't worry, it won't be long before someone chimes in with America is not the World!
Upgrading the game to the latest SDK means generating a new build and completely regression testing the game, especially portions of the game engine that rely on any updated SDK libraries. That alone could be significant.
If the delay is for this reason I bet Sony forced it so that people would have to upgrade their firmware just to be able to play the game. Not a bad idea, actually, and could really prevent piracy.
Only a one week delay? The testers and engineers can fully regression test all of GT5, and fix any problems that might arise, in a single week? That means they have to rebuild everything. If an SDK upgrade is really the reason for the delay then I would think it would take longer than a week just to be safe.
What does that even mean?
Are you implying that building software presents a lesser architectural challenge than building a physical structure?
In the long run, customers will be happier with it being late and stable than on-time and unstable. And there's no way to estimate exactly how long development and testing will take. They just need to make sure it's right when it releases and everything will be fine.
People don't have any choice but to be ok with it. People want this game, and they'll put up with some amount of inconvenience to get it.
For Sony, the timing of the release most likely comes down to when it will have the most impact, not how upset customers are. They have to release it at a time when it can achieve the highest sales volume.
If Sony releases it at the same time as other highly anticipated games some people will have to choose between...
When I picked up SMB 2 I thought it was probably the worst video game I'd ever played. I was used to Super Mario Bros, Megaman and Metroid. This game was something else. Over time it grew on me, and the more I played it the more I enjoyed it. For me, though, the real crown jewel was SMB 3.
I thought that this was a very well put-together opinion piece. It's about more than whether you skip the cutscenes or not, it's about the value of the storyline in video games and whether it's really necessary.
I tend to play a lot of fighting games and racing games so that I don't get caught up in a story. Sometimes I wonder why developers even bother to try to mold a story around characters in fighting and racing games. But they do.
When I ...
Well, the sales matter to people who want a Gran Turismo 6. The sales reflect more than the number of players online. These companies rely on sales to finance future projects.
No single country is the world, but there's no doubt that demand for this game is high.
It's good to see the cheaters getting punished. I bet the Bungie forums are full of people pleading for their punishment to be reversed and threatening to never play again.
For example:
"So without fair warning, it's alright to reset my account? Did you even consider sending a WARNING message to those of us who didn't know doing things for extra credits was going to get us in trouble? My friend showed me something that just gave you an edge to get C...
