Two weeks is not a big deal. Two weeks of tweaking can make a huge difference in the finished product. If it means I'm going to get the best possible product then I'm all for it.
I don't know why people seem to think that PS3 delays are Microsoft FUD. I think if anything the delays are just growing pains for PS3 developers.
It was for the Genesis. I remember having to buy one to play Eternal Champions.
If he's buying games for kids with straight A's then I can see him demanding proof first. I think that part's ok.
But to deny sales to people who are legally entitled to purchase the items is discrimination and can land Gamestop in some very hot and deep legal water.
But I absolutely love this game. Even though it is kind of short and linear, it is definitely a killer app in my book.
Some people just don't know when to quit.
I still have my original PS1 controller with no analog sticks and no rumble. Adding features to the controller design is something that companies have always done. Sega created a controller with an analog stick for Nights into Dreams, too.
I don't think that it is fair to say that it is a bad idea to hire someone from Sega. This guy isn't the one that made the decisions that caused Sega to go into a downhill spiral.
If Sony sees enough in this guy to give him a chance then he must have what they are looking for.
"Get a decent computer" and "get a Windows machine" are two different things.
This project is a noble cause, but it is going to fall short of meeting the needs of most of the people that it is meant to support. In many cases it is possible to get a second-hand PC capable of running Ubuntu Linux for about the same price is this, and it would offer more value.
Rumble controllers are something that PlayStation owners asked for and now Sony is providing it. Much like HDMI is something that Xbox 360 owners asked for and Microsoft provided it. Any time people get what they want it's a good thing, right?
Seriously, only a full-time victim would be looking for that. Utter nonsense.
My biggest concern with violent games is the reason for it. Many games use excessive violence as a selling point. I prefer violence to be contextual. Look at games like Virtua Fighter, Tekken and Soul Calibur. You're beating the crap out of someone. But there's no blood. Compare that with a Mortal Kombat game and you get violence for the sake of violence and shallow gameplay.
I'm all for making games realistic, but excessive violence as a marketing tool is a little much for me....
I think that they would need pack-ins to justify a higher price tag, I thought that the Motorstorm pack-in was a limited time deal that was going away once the 60 gb models were gone. Having both Motorstorm and Spider-man 3 packed in would justify the price if that's how it shakes out.
I don't give Tekken that much credit. It has some good moves and combos, and some intricate controls. But it is also a favorite of button mashers because you can do an adequate job that way, too. The formula hasn't really changed since Tekken 3. I actually prefer the Soul Calibur series over the Tekken series.
I think that for me the standard was set by the 2D fighters from Capcom and SNK years ago.
I didn't play many Wii games until the release of Metroid Prime 3. That game is so good! It seamless combines shooting, action and platforming into a really satisfying gaming experience. And the sounds and music give a nod to the original Metroid from the NES days. It is a great game that anyone with a Wii should try.
If Nintendo can make a game this good for the Wii I'm excited to see what they do with Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Mario Galaxy.
How are they going to justify the price of the 80 gb model? Even if they drop the price of the 80 gb model to $499 as is rumored, $100 is a lot to pay for simply 40 gb of HDD. My guess is that the 80 gb model wouldn't sell since you could buy the 40 gb and upgrade to a larger hard drive for less money.
Unless a 40 gb model is going to be gimped on features then there's no justification that I can rationalize. I could see them dropping the 80 gb to $399 first.
I think with the release of Heavenly Sword PS3 fanboys lose the right to say that games are limited by DVD9. That game lasts 6-7 hours tops, and it was released on Blu-Ray disc. If devs have all of this "extra space" at their disposal, then what was the reason for making this game so short? And what about the single-player campaign in Resistance? That was hardly an epic, either.
The 360 had several good games at launch. They don't stand up as killer apps today, but they were good for the first round of software. Much better than what the PS3 had. Aside from Resistance, which is good, there really wasn't any other compelling PS3 software. At least in my opinion.
I bought my 360 and PS3 6 months after launch and I don't regret either purchase. In my opinion the 360 had a better launch lineup than the PS3 did, hands down.
360's break. We get it. Why do we have to read about every 360 that RROD's?
This game easily lives up to the hype.
Peter Moore wasn't a EA long enough to affect the release of Madden '08. I'm sure that he wouldn't tell the development team to throttle it back to 30 FPS just to help Microsoft out. That doesn't make any sense to me.
This stuff is starting to reach tin-foil hat proportions.
