Your analogy of yearly games that sell vs a new Ip doesn't really apply here either or even make sense for that fact. You seem to be inferring that because it's selling well despite some questionable low reviews somehow that makes it a bad game. The market is what dictates if a product has value or not. Reviews only help in the process but by no means are they the authority since at the end of the day they are someones opinion. If the game was truly garbage no amount of good reviews w...

Right because if Sony released a game with HDR broken it would get a pass? GTFO you know they wouldn't, this is the kind of bias we are talking about Rockstar got many favorable reviews solely based on the fact that they are Rockstar despite many gamers having gripes with RDR2 not to mention the crap fest that was the online component of RDR2 is not a bad game but it's not perfect either despite the many favorable reviews giving it perfect scores.

Brah Crackdown 3 was hyped to no end by MS fanboys only to be a massive disappointment, it came and went and nobody cared to even mention how bad it was that's just sad.

What do you mean what's going to get people to buy a next gen console? Games are GTA6 is reportedly not going to be available on the PS4 or Xbox one do to how massive it will be so unless you don't want to play some of the biggest titles then no you won't need to upgrade.

How much time do they need? MS doesn't get it, they probably don't even know why the 360 was so popular. Just to put things in perspective of how badly this generation has been for them, they went from having half of the market share in the US to Sony absolutely dominating them. How did this happen? It's quite simple MS focused on everything under the sun except games and their fan base is still waiting for what exactly? Quality AAA games worth playing it's no wonder why they ...

You are 100 percent correct the amount of hate DG got made no sense, and to be honest it started well before the game ever released. How many articles were written comparing it to the Last of Us? Which made no sense, how many times did we hear that the character was generic and boring. Many people wanted to hate DG no matter what and when it had some minor technical flaws they used that against it. Bottom line DG is a new Ip that while flawed deserved better because it is a fun game worth pla...

No gamers saw a clear difference with HDR enable and HDR turned off, that is where it was first reported not by reviewers odd how these minor grievances where over looked for RDR2? People had many gripes with the game but many reviewers just brush them off. HRD, shooting mechanics, slow start, slow in game movement, tedious and pointless animations. I like RDR2 but it was far from perfect and reviewers failed to point out most if not any of it's flaws.

Rather strange definition of successful because MS had taken half of the market share from Sony during the 360 era in the most important, lucrative market the US only to lose it. Any reasonable person won't deny MS making money this generation but considering the position they where in before this generation started they most definitely took a massive loss no matter how you look at it.

Do you honestly believe that if xbox one had done better this gen they would have put their games on PC? Common on Sony and Nintendo know the value of exclusivity that is why they won't put their exclusives on PC anytime soon. MS has done certain things out of necessity not because they wanted to or because they where pro consumer they where bleeding sales wise so they needed as much exposure as possible that's why they made their games available on PC.

Reviewers are not immune to criticism many gamers feel that the game was unfairly judge harsher than other games. Whether it was do to critics having a higher expectation for the game do to Sony's recent quality games or not is debatable. When you are getting reviews for the game that range 4 to 5 which is border line broken that is where gamers see the disconnect.

The hate for the game was well before it ever released having some articles pop up directly stating it wa...

I guess having an opinion on a reviewers opinion is inappropriate.😂

People are just sick and tired of these so call journalist using their platform to get offended over everything these kind of people live in a bubble. They are entitled to feel however they damn well please but by voicing said opinion publicly they open themselves to criticism it's that simple.

Sensitive much? How do you even take polygon seriously with this kind of article? This is the perfect example of what is wrong with video game journalism if you can even call it that.

@343_Guilty_Spark

So an average scored game equals a 4/10? I have seen reviews get that low, GTFO the game is NOT broken no way it should be scored that low compared to other recent games that offered way less content and have a ton of issues that didn't get as much heat as Days Gone. Thankfully gamers are seeing past these blatant troll reviews and buying, enjoying and supporting a new Ip.

This is why so many developers can't seem to pitch new I...

So many reviewers hated on the game for many reasons that other games with similar flaws got a pass on, even if you over look this blatant inconsistency it still leaves a very questionable disparity between what reviewers and gamers have experienced. This just further proves to me how out of touch reviewers are and how they review certain games with a set of standards vs others.

Word of mouth is what has helped Days Gone be successful despite many negative reviews that could have buried the game, gamers have spoken with their wallets. Hopefully now Sony Bend get's a shot to improve everything they learned from the first game.

I guess some games are judged by a different criteria specially Sony games. The point is that gamers are choosing to ignore some blatant trolling reviews only to find a good a fun new Ip. Is it perfect no is it fun yes and it's no more generic than every COD, or FIFA game but where are the negative reviews for those games? You could hate the game all you want and so can reviewers but it hasn't stopped the game from selling well and hitting with it's intended audience. Why is this?...

This guy are you really comparing a free to play game with a game you have to spend money on? Days Gone is nowhere near as bad as some reviewers have said it is. I saw a 4.5/10 that means it's practically broken which isn't the case no matter how much you hate a game you have to give reasonable reasons for that score. That is why many gamers have disregarded the many dumb almost troll like reviews.

Gamers have spoken with their wallets, it's always the best way to make yourself heard actions speak louder than words. Out of touch are exactly the right words.
