It only took common sense to deduct that it would still have backwards compatibility considering its done using SOFTWARE on the new machines..

from what I read, Sony didnt say it was the same technology, they said it was the same to implement from a programming standpoint. Just because the prgramming functions are the same, doesnt mean the hardware is also the same.

This looks like they took that comparisson of 5400/7200 drives posted yesterday and made up an article around it

Missleading really, It takes more than 1 piece of the puzzle to produce graphics of ps3/xbox360 quality

Yeild rate is what? discs that are quality acceptable, and not?

'no backwards compatibity'

that doesnt make any sence because bc is now done using software and no special hardware.

This is one of several reasons my wii has been collecting dust since i bought it in feb. i dont think ive even turned it on since june. Just because its selling well, doesnt mean everyone who has it, thinks its good. Hype can sell anything.

I'm not a fan of halo, but i think it was a bit stupid for people to make anything from this '640p' business. If a game looks good, why do you care about the specifics?

Some other information on this.

"What cost $699.00 in 1995 would cost $916.92 in 2006.
Also, if you were to buy exactly the same products in 2006 and 1995,
they would cost you $699.00 and $532.87 respectively. "

Isnt the ps3 selling about the same as the ps2 did in its first year (a bit less but not much, and the ps2 had less competition). And also selling similarly to what the 360 did in its first year? I dont really see where all the 'amagad ps3 is dieing' is coming from. its not blowing the doors of sales charts, but its by no means a non seller.

Things do get efficient, but not to that extreme. When it comes to using space and memory, the technology world doesnt often use less, it almost allways uses more. More ram, more drive space, bigger disk media, etc etc.

Unfortunatly your right, but at least i feel better saying it =P

I am a ps3 owner. But I have to say, problems with any consumer goods can happen with any company, there are recals on all sorts of things all the time. Does a mistake from Microsoft mean their console isnt fun to play? Some people seem to think a console is like a gang color, you cant like more than one. Fact is, alot of us could care less which console other people have as competition is the cause for good ideas and progress. So they had a design problem, big deal, they are working on it, m...

if there are 11.5 million xbox owners and every single one of them bought halo 3 that would be approx 690 million. Regardless of how great halo might be, there are tons of people who dont like fps games. I think your figure might be a tad high ;)

Am I missing something with this comparison? 59.95 -vs- 7-8 bucks per copy/viewing. takes alot less copies to get to the same number.
