WHAT?
This just got more interesting. Rumble, you say... <3
Even the Wii has buttons - because doing everything with motion is just silly. ..Why wouldn't I just go play an actual game of basketball instead of waving my arms around in front of a screen like a goon?
I find it a little suspicious that Natal is mentioned so positively and prominently in contrast to Sony's wand.
Some good points, but it ultimately feels like hit-bait.

Sony shouldn't remove the OtherOS - they should hire GeoHot to work on their security.
Maybe it's just me, but I thought firmware updates were supposed to add features; not strip them away one by one.
Just a hint for wannabe bloggers - if you're going to post an article talking about how amazing the graphics are in a game; post full-size, full-rez scans, not piddly little low-rez preview shots. Defeats the whole purpose of the article.
I've been holding off buying MW2, even though everyone I talk to tells me how great it is.
I've already got COD4 and W@W - I think a third military shooter from Activision would definitely be Overkill. (see what I did there?) ;P
"Xbox 360’s demographic doesn’t find much interest in JRPGs, we have seen plenty of these titles come and go on 360. Outside Japan these JRPGs being hugely successful on a Microsoft platform is wishful thinking."
That pretty much sums it up right there. How many Halo junkies wanna play a turn-based JRPG? ..Show of hands? Yeah, that's what I thought.
This is one of those moments when only Hugh Laurie can express my true sentiments.
While all my buddies are busily forking out their hard-earned dollars for pre-orders, I stroll over to Blockbuster the day before a title's released and ask them to hold a copy for me.
That's if I REALLY want to play it. Otherwise, my game library has grown so much that I haven't finished most of the ones I have. Once you've hit the 30+ games mark, I ask myself: do I really *need* to get another game right away? Lo and behold, there's often heavily hyped titles that wind up on...
"..He adds that Activision remains largely unaffected by these declines due to the firm's 'lack of exposure' to the PS2 and handheld market."
Oooooh, Activision's JEALOUS! lmao XD
Nice that they're paying attention to such details, but frankly, with only Bioshock 2 supporting it...yeah. As with the SixAxis motion control, if devs don't get on board and make it work, it's gonna crash and burn. It'd be nice if there was something like this that *didn't* put the onus on the developers.
@1.14 "I complain a lot about Xbox and what not, but whatever they do, they do it the proper way and it works the way it is supposed to work."
Dude, re...
I have a hard time seeing how I would take this anywhere outside the house. I'd be paranoid about breaking it or spilling something on it - at least I can fold up my laptop, and it's solid enough to withstand being knocked around a bit.
Periodically scrubbing the fingerprint oil and detritus off the screen of my iPod is already too much work. Does the iPad come with a full-size chamois? What next, Apple wash stations where you can get your products cleaned, buffed, shined and ...
..but in that article picture, the boots are playing PS3.
Add in the fact that you can network 'em and make a supercomputer, and I think the military's liking the new $300 price tag.
"Sony's Japanese, why would they help American troops?"
Erm...Japan is their biggest ally in Asia. "Ally": a state formally cooperating with another for a military or other purpose, typically by treaty.
"If price points are high, it is unlikely that Natal or Sony’s motion controller will sell many units; if they are very low, they will sell a lot more."
OMG! Really?? People buy more of something when it's low-price? Thanks for the education, Mike.
“My uninformed opinion is that Microsoft will price relatively low, and Sony will price higher”
Well...at least he's giving his opinion the right label.
EDIT: @ disagrees
...
Some possible pissoffs could include:
- Draconian DRM
- Massive sticker price
- Accessory purchase required
- Large sections of the game must be purchased separately online
- Teaming up with Activision to make Fable the first COD-style fairytale FPS
Ok, that last one was a joke. ^_^
I haven't played ME/ME2 yet, but I'm actually loving Dragon Age. Fills that empty space in my heart where KOTOR used to be. ^_^
No, dammit - what happened to "it does everything"? Ok, that's just one platform, but still: I want a system that'll not only let me get my game on, but also my snack on, my drink on, AND my groove on. All at once, too; I should be able to actually eat some Mirelurk Cakes while drinking Mead and getting nasty with the Night-Elf barmaid in the back.
Now tell me a game like that wouldn't sell like hotcakes covered with naked porn stars.
Gaming is evolving. And part of the fun factor is *immersion* - becoming part of a reality so detailed you sometimes forget it's virtual. That's the real Holy Grail of gaming, and Heavy Rain (whatever it is) seems closer to that than most of the other games that have preceded it.
Do I think it's going to live up to the hype? No. Few ambitious projects do. But it's an important step in the right direction.
The demo is strictly multiplayer, and it's a ghost town. Couldn't even play it. You may be logged in for hours before you find others to play with; I didn't bother waiting that long.
Why is this franchise inevitably butchered? It could have been the next Starcraft.
People still use PCs for gaming? ..Wow. What is this, 1996? ^_^
