I can look at the top of the box office charts and apply the same glib schtick.
"John Wick? Yup... yet another one-man-killing-machine shoot-em-up..."
Do you have anything to add about Synth Riders specifically? I can't tell from your comment if you've played it. "I'm sure it's fine" gives the impression that you haven't. I have. I played it on PSVR1. It was one of the titles I most looked forward to for PSVR2 bec...
Slight clarification/PSA.
There's an upgrade fee for the standard version, but the upgrade for the Tourist Edition is free.
"A wheel and rig is nice too."
It really is!
"is this another must-play for PSVR2?"
That's the standout sentence. ANOTHER must-play for PSVR2.
I'm not trying to circle the drain arguing with detractors overs something as subjective as "must play." The point is there has been a noticeable shift in narrative around PSVR2 since the GT7 previews.
Synth Riders is glorious.
I play on it every day but still haven't played all of my PSVR2 games. I say that not counting any sequel games I'm waiting to play until after I beat prior entries. PSVR2 is loaded with games. If the argument is that it doesn't have enough of whatever type of game the reviewer is looking for, we can have that argument, but it's wrong to call the lineup thin. Supporting the argument with claims that Astro Bot Rescue Mission launched with PSVR is worse. Astro Bot Rescue mission...
There's also the issue of it being a hybrid title. It's not a VR exclusive. Teleporting can break the balance of the game if navigation was not initially designed around it. There are other comfort settings that can be used.
It's entirely possible for anyone to sue for anything. It doesn't mean it will make it to a courtroom, let alone receive a favorable judgment, let alone receive a favorable judgment that would make the hassle worthwhile. Is there law and legal precedent informing the idea that console manufacturers can't curate the content on their stores for quality? Today's increase in shovelware seems to have more to do with the simple fact that console manufacturers get a licensing fee all...
Yeah, we know. Poor MS. They must not have any funds left over for 3rd party content after allocating $75 billion to buy up multiple 3rd party publishers.* Sony is so unfair.
*Except for all of the 3rd party content they do and have made deals on. Like when they cut their own deal with Square for Tomb Raider before Sony got FF7 Remake. Remember that? When they thought that playing coy about the exclusivity period would trick Tomb Raider fans into buying an Xbox rather than...
Not only that, but all of those were BEFORE Game Pass and whatever conditioning it has had on the purchasing habits of Xbox gamers.
@Mcardle
The three FF13 games were also on Xbox day one. That's just talking day one, not counting titles that later released on Xbox.
True, but the bundle is only about the cost of an upgrade fee more than buying Moss 2 alone.
"Rearview mirrors and other reference points provide a strong sense of how your vehicle handles, and I imagine it’s even more grounding if you have a fancy steering wheel setup."
He was that impressed just playing with the DualSense.
@darth
I assume that includes peddles? Amazon has it for $339.
"It's not out of stock on release day from its single location of purchase."
The implication I'm getting is that you think it's more likely for an item to go out of stock when there is a single location of purchase versus the stock being divided among multiple retailers.
"So? Kinect made 1.2b in a quarter and outsold the PSVR - it was still a flop 🤷"
It's almost like healthy growth over time is preferable to the explosive growth a fad may experience before people move on to the next fad. I love how you keep using this point as if it doesn't invalidate your greater argument.
@Orchard
I take it you regained the ability to draw conclusions without having actual numbers that you temporarily lost when TLOU Remake was shooting up the charts now that it allows you to promote a negative narrative about PSVR2.
Intentionally inconsistent standards (There's a word for that.) aside, your argument doesn't hold up under its own loaded framework. Assuming PSVR2 needed a killer app and that said killer app is defined by review scores, there are other games available at launch with the potential to fill that role.
Two examples immediately come to mind as being similarly or better positioned to fill that role than Call of the Mountain. RE Village received good critical reviews pr...
This is the same person who less than two days ago challenged someone who argued MS better hope Starfield sells well on PC to make up for lost PS sales, because "that doesn't appear to be a bar/metric that Microsoft has set for them or the game."
Isn't it amazing? He's been holding PSVR to made up standards that don't appear to have been set by Sony, both before and after his comment defending an MS game because "that doesn't appear to be...
