I agree that the PS4 version is superior but that isn't to say the Wii U version is bad. For Wii U owners it's actually a really good rendition of the game and the Wii U co-op mode is actually one of the biggest draws for that version and makes it a great purchase for Wii U owners IMO.
@ChickeyCantor I agree that it definitely should have been in and I think most people even ones looking forward to the game would I agree. for me personally it's not really a deal breaker though.
Those characters ARE fan favorites though especially Shovel Knight.

Yeah Mario is so cartoony I don't think I would want him looking more detailed than he is already. Maybe more anti-aliasing but not much else.
Maybe it's because I'm a more casual fan of Nintendo, but I don't really find the Directs to be all that disappointing even when they don't have a lot to offer me. To me they are like movie previews in internet video form.

A lot of people on GAF and Destructoid seem to be drawn to that possibility. I really don't see why people think Nintendo is killing Wii U so rapidly when the system just started becoming profitable. I am interested to see what NX is but I don't want to get rid of my Wii U for that.
People are also not considering NX also connects to Wii U and 3DS so we can't say for sure. Based on what we have seen it looks more like Nintendo's version of Playstation TV which I think could be very good for them. But I'm just guessing and could be totally wrong. I think Wii U had another year or two ahead of its lifespan. People are writing it off too early IMO.
NX is likely launching in two years time though. We know so little about it it may as well be in the pre-production stage. Zelda is being delayed to next year. I'm pretty convinced that it will still be a Wii U exclusive.
I don't what was so gimmicky about it. It was just like any other controller but with a screen.
NX is barely a proof of concept and likely will not be out for at least another two E3s minimum. I highly doubt this game will be delayed for that long.

What garrettbobbyferguson said. There is a pretty big difference between taking more time to develop a game and being in development hell.
Crash Bandicoot and Mega Man are core games and they are both very kid friendly.
But I'm a Sony fan and I bought and enjoy one. ._.
I'm not sure I agree since Nintendo knock-off games tend to be pretty popular on mobile services.
Yeah this is a pretty poor decision but it looks like the devs are making some accommodations which is nice.
